Jalebi/Jalebis/Jilapi/Jilawii Recipe

I love sweetmeats, jalebi...not so much. Post an easy burfee recipe :p

The recipe can be made better by substituting honey instead of sugar, and frying in Ghee instead of oil.

(That's how I make them, and everybody says they are the best they have ever tasted so far.)

That would be the ghee. Sweetmeats made in oil are

Buy an Indian Delights :p

Someday I'm gonna come up there just to have the pleasure of smacking you upside the head...not that I don't suspect your bhabis haven't already thumped you, but when I do it, it's gonna count

will get the recipe my mum uses to make Burfee, absolute deliciousness

Remember to use fresh cream and not that horrible canned stuff. Also, use Klim milk powder and not the cheaper brands that you find everywhere. Full cream fresh milk is a must, low fat and fat free milk makes it bland.

If you want to use almonds, buy whole almonds, soak overnight and remove skins then crush into a fine powder.
Chipped/nibbed almonds make chewing the burfee horrible. It is supposed to just melt in your mouth.

Cook it over a wood fire or gas stove. It just tastes better that way compared to an electric stove. Remember, always stir and keep the heat low else it will burn very quickly. Use a good quality non-stick saucepan. I have a copper one specially for burfee :)

I can cook and bake both of them under the table with one hand tied behind my back. The only one doing any thumping is me :p
