java security

I had to move my java security level very low in order to program a device.

Is it dangerous to leave it so low. What must I be looking out for.

Make sure you disable Java in browsers (I presume you aren't coding a Java Applet?), and keep it up to date. But why do you have to set the security so low? Is it an unsigned application?

Yes , it is unsigned, and I use firefox to go to device [ip] and then from there it use java.

So, if talking to this device, change java security, or keep java on low security, if it is safe.
