What did you get in the end? I'm semi-keen on a 4 door Wrangler but am not sure how it will handle roof racks. The ones I see at the beach seem to have make-shift attachments for surfboards.

Waaib the 4 door Wrangler is great. it solved the problem if space that the previous 2 door had, and they have more technology. they handle roof racks well. as the most roof racks are attached to the body because of the hardtop not being able to carry too much weight. but a lot of advancements have been made...

visit 4X4 community there was one with a roof rack, will post pics soon. i have the 2 door JEEP Wrangler A/T:D

my JEEP is stock standard no lift and i went where a normal 4X4 would struggle:D

Apart from a gearbox that ate itself after 75000kms mines been 100% reliable.

The 'small' (2.5ton) Cherokee here is called the Liberty in the US. There is a new shape Grand Cherokee in US. www.jeep.com. Nice looking thing. I read that the new shape Cherokee/Liberty that we have here went back to the more square shape, from the round headlights rounded body-shape, as a result of a survey done exclusively with Jeep Cherokee Liberty owners. It was the first survey like this for Jeep in that it excluded the general population and only inlcuded current Jeep owners. Apparently Toyota has used this kind of survey for years and Jeep copied it.

Catch visit 4X4 community liked to the JEEP sub forum, you should get all the answers

the JEEP Cherokee is more like an SUV, it's offending capability can be improved by a lift and bigger tyres...

i can't comment about the reliability of them though...
