Jeffreys Bay Advice

He'll only run into the water once. J-bay has by far the coldest water I have ever been in

You are going to freeze your d!ck off, you can barely swim in J-Bay during December.

Am travelling for 4 days to J-bay in a week or two. Will be landing in PE and hiring a car from there. Need some advice

I suspect it's going to be very quiet though, the last couple of longs weekends was almost dead. Some locals from EC hanging around during the day but otherwise no-one. August long weekend I went the ocean basket for dinner and was one of 2 tables occupied, the place stood empty.

Will keep an eye out for you, I am heading down as well - starting foundations on my new braai chapel

Cool. Me and my partner are also going to Jeffreys Bay on Thursday next week for about 10 nights.

How did you manage to wangle 10 nights? My boss would flip if I did thaf. If I had 10 nights, I would probably do Durban to CT (2-3 nights per location)

Women generally do have temperature control issues. I speak truth, there are 4 of them in our open plan office.....and the A/C battles go on all seasons. The same thing in the car with my wife.

Man, it's nearly impossible to get it anywhere along SA coasts the last few years. You should get plenty in store though.

I have surfed it tons of times, its nowhere near as cold as CT.

This. Locals will stay a respectful distance away from the water - just lounging around on the beach. The ones so inclined will put on wet suits before going in.

Pier street is right opposite the road but I'm not sure what time they're starting. Was at Rudolph Street for Jumuah.

I wouldn't go to Korsten if I were you, very dodgy area for non locals (well not really dodgy but not great). Are there any other options?

Edit: I see the Eidgaah in Malabar starts talk at 07:30. If you leave the airport at 06:30 then you'll have more than enough time to get there. Mall options closest to the airport is Walmer Park Shopping Center (15min max), drive from there to Malabar probably 20-25 min max. It's a public holiday so there will be zero traffic at that hour.

See my edit above. Malabar is your best option for a decent venue (in the event of rain the Darul Uloom is a very nice Masjid). Malabar is also the place PE's Indian population calls home .
