So, it's come to my attention that City* Power has changed their schedule twice this month...
I bet not one single person was notified. Not even half a person was notified.

Two totally unexpected and unplanned for blackouts in a row now.

This is getting really bad now.

* I had a naughty word there as a replacement to the word "city" - MyBB doesn't seem to like that...

THey broke their initial upload.
They forgot to roll up stages - so if you're scheduled for stage one you should ALSO be scheduled for 2 and 3, but they didn't reflect that.
I've been on top of News24 to help them keep gridwatch up to date with their changes... but it's a reactive process :/

This is the problem with this rubbish. EVERYTHING is a reactive process. Including ranting and raving. ;)

My issue is that the schedule completely changed. Not a few small changes here and there. I know because I manage the schedules and notifications for two buildings.

Oh that - they moved blocks around too. *******s.

They may as well publish the schedule in another language. Seems to me like it would make no difference.

Have emailed them.

lol

that's a tiny fkup compared to their no-warning implementation of load limiting on smart meters

I'm sure... Not familiar with the frustrations though - we don't have meters here. Is it really erratic?

Nope.
Starts at 7pm, ends at 11pm, no matter what area you are in
Go over 21 amps draw and they turn your power off for 30 seconds. Repeat 5 times, then turn you off for half an hour. Still over 21A when then turn you on again, off till 11pm.

That's hectic. Not clued up all that much on amps and volts and whatnot, but I'm guessing that 21 amps isn't a lot? Like maybe some lights, the fridge, and a few PCs?

I prefer it to being completely off for 4.5hours(which turns into 7-8 when they can't turn us back on and sub blows up). Atleast I still have some power to get stuff done

But as others have mentioned, there are problems with its implementation that needs to be addressed, warnings etc

Sure, but my issue is not only regarding warnings - what about surges? If the power keeps going on and off like that, your stuff will fry out, no?

Yup, gonna **** your stuff up 6-0

21A is 4500W plus. (http://www.rapidtables.com/calc/electric/Amp_to_Watt_Calculator.htm)
I seriously doubt that is correct - trying for a week to get them to give real figures to no avail.
4500W is a geyser + stove plate, or oven + TV etc.

My guess is that they have lost a decimal point - 2.1A, or 450W

best way to discribe it....

look at when they turn off your water, unless you are running a tap or other such you probably won't know. No harm done to anything.
You have a fragile wine glass in the sink when you open the tap (after water it back). The water comes back in bursts and bubbles until the air is out, so you could call it dirty water as it will break that wine glass as it hits with force.

The same happens with power. When schity power turns the switch back to on your, and everyone else's, premises gets dirty power.

That dirty power is the problem.
I now leave all fragile appliances(tv, washing machine....) off on the wall switch, when I remember. And yet the bastards still got my dishwasher  (had forgotten to turn off wall switch). Thank goodness for insurance.

oh, I also turn the geyser trip switch off, I don't want to struggle without hot water.

Average geyser element is 3.6kw
oven elements are 3kw each.
Your calcs are off ;)

Average geyser is 2KW. My 200l is only 3KW.
Some of the crappy town house ones can even be 1.5KW.

At an oven element of 3KW and a TV at 100W, I am still within the 4500W I quoted.

Calcs are sound.
