Hello everyone,

I have a small appliance repair business and currently we have a custom made software that allows us to log customer info, create job cards, create quotes and invoices and then finally close those job cards. Sending of the quotes and invoices is done via email.

Now we have an issue with the custom software ... the developer has stopped providing updates and we have to move over to windows 10.

My current setup is 2 PC's (next to each other, connected via LTE router that was supplied by Telkom) - nothing special, but it did the job for us.

Now I am looking for an open source software that can do all of the above ... any suggestions??

All feedback is welcome and I thank you in advance for taking the time to respond.

We have a supplier who uses paypod.co.za
Haven't tried it but the invoices and quotes from it look decent

Thank you for the feedback .... unfortunately this doesn't give an option for a job card and we need job cards in order to follow the repair and what spares are needed as well as the product info (model numbers and part numbers).

Any other suggestions?

Im curious as to why something that was designed to run on windows wont work with windows 10?What language is it written in?I do freelance web development.

Try SuiteCRM or ERPNext. You may have to create a custom module or Document Type for the Job Card but (in the case of SuiteCRM definitely and I think in the case of ERPNext) this can be done without programming knowledge.

It depends what you are looking for. I wouldn't suggest SuiteCRM as an ERP solution but it's a very capable application. Unfair to call it K@k.

It's a headache to navigate UI wise and it's sore on the eye it's the ultimate bootstrap gone bad.

Powerful, but you need a level headed person to make head or tales.

Erpnext on the other hand is super intuitive and incredibly user friendly especially navigation.

But yes not a crm per se, but more than capable.

It was actually a program for Doctors and Hospitals and the developer is a bit lazy so he modified it and gave it to us for a small price .... however, there are many issues with the software now and it hasn't been updated for over 3 years.

All I know is that is uses SQL ....

At this point I don't have to look for open source ...... even a software that we have to pay a license for, but it must suit all the needs.

Or use a proper accounting system. I get that small business run off paper or excel. But it costs you in the long run. Look at pastel online or Omni
