Job Offer - Salary Question

Haha what did he say to get banned?
I can't remember the exact incident, maybe one of the forum regulars can chip in. But as you know he was very anti-establishment and defiant.

He's still around.. the numbers username... 14 something or other

Like others have said, your daughter should ask them to make her an offer. They have her resume, they're the ones head hunting her, so they should offer her what they think she's worth. I listened to a radio interview a while ago and they said you don't actually have to give out your slip, because it limits you.

Be careful - a lot of this advice comes from people who have no idea what happens on the other side of the table. (And have pseudo-Sonic2k paranoid fantasies because of it ;) )

I don't get it. Show them your slip. If they make an offer you don't want, don't accept it. If thy really want you, they'll make the offer you want. What's the big deal?

yeah, it went something like that, she showed them her current earnings, received the offer and declined - they couldn't match her hours or benefits, though she was keen on the actual job she has other priorities this year, was hard for her to decline, but meh, she is young.

What I do is I happily provide payslips but I inform the company/recruiter that if they think they're making an offer based on my current salary they are wasting their time and mine. I put a peg in the ground and tell them I will not move for less than a min of X. X generally being rather decent.
