I do lots. I suppose the easiest way would to explain it would be research. In specific the management and analysis of said data

You said you'll be an intern somewhere else... So it's logical to ask what you do. If you are that good then you shouldn't be an intern if you move..

true that, if its not in writing its meaningless, I was promised a change of scenery with my new job,
wanted to try something new, instead got stuck doing the same work for the less salary with no rights

So how did that happen exactly? How is it possible to change jobs and then end up with LESS salary without knowing beforehand? Also what are these "rights" you are referring to that you do not have?

kind of a long story
but let me put it differently, doing the exact same work I used to be doing but as a contractor and earning in real terms less.

OP is being intentionally vague, because I bet his boss frequents this forum

I'm still confused as to what I'm doing. My scope of work at the moment is vast. My main focus should be around the management and analysis of research data, although practically that's only half of what I do

I would be an intern based on the scope of work I do. There are not many job options out there, except going into an organization as an intern and working from there. Being an intern would pay more and have more medium to long term opportunities

so your a BI then?
Not a clue what BI is, could you please enlighten me?

I technically am a health systems monitoring and evaluation specialist, currently in charge of the research data for a rather large health research project. I'm not an IT guy, if that helps. I have a masters in Psychology, with a specialization in Health Promotion and Communication

So it is entirely your fault then, that you are earning less. So asked and answered...

You did not enlighten me any further re. these "rights" that you do not have?

If she did I would be screwed. She is rather vindictive, and not many people do what I do so the community is rather small :\

Boo hoo..."my boss is evil and bad." Cry me a river. Do your job and go home with a paycheck. If you do not like your job and/or your boss, quit and find another job. It is a free economy.

Stop being such pu$$ies.

That does NOT mean I have to tolerate abuse from an employer.
That does NOT give them the right to abuse employees or treat them as slaves.
I suspect you ARE one of these bosses.

I can identify with the OP to an extent. Also found myself stuck at another company for a number of years. I wanted to attain a specific position or role to allow me to move for a better salary. I was frustrated for years and at every turn there was another roadblock. It became a running joke once I eventually attained the position. During that time also had some of the most miserable increases known to man - 3, 5 ,0, 4 - all on the basis of company performance and not on your individual performance - how you performed at your work simply meant that you will then qualify to share in the meager increases on offer.

I finally caught a break, managed to secure another position at a slightly smaller company. I have not looked back since - 13 months and 3 different jobs later - my current nett salary is double my previous nett at my old company.

What you need to do, I don't know. This is just an example of my own experience.

"abuse"..."slaves"

These words are used quite freely by yourself and other posters. But it is all subjective, isn't it? If you are thin skinned, lazy, unproductive, show no initiative, cannot think for yourself etc. etc. etc. it will also affect your boss' attitude towards you.

You and the other posters(moaners) here, are the type of employer that always project their own incompetancies onto their bosses. You hop from job to job, complaining about your previous bosses and always doing your best to poison your new fellow employees's daily lives and attitudes towards your new boss.

If you are SO competent, SO skilled, SO amazing at your job, why not become the entrepeneur of the year and start your own business? And if you have actually done that already, stop complaining about bosses in the corporate market of which you are no longer a part.

I had a specific CEO that enjoyed being a di$k. He saw it as being "driven" seen as he built up his company from scratch.

I warned the IT Director and my Manager that they need to allow the staff to grow and learn from some of their mistakes and not be so harsh, seen as the team was relatively new, +/- 6 months average length of service at the company at the time.

Eventually I said a solid FU to them and promptly found another position and every month following that(the entire team of 16 is gone) - they've lost at least 1-2 employees in the development team there. It culminated in the IT Director eventually falling on his sword and leaving that place as well.

So I went past there during that final month to deliver a solid - I told you so.

Dear Boss
Have done so already, but I will not cease to let all and sundry know what I think of your kind, and the corporate utopia you love so much.
My child will never work for anyone like you, nor will he work for a company, I will teach him how to work for himself, and build up an honest business.
