Johannesburg needs R221 billion to catch up on maintenance and overdue upgrades across its collapsing road, power and water networks.

Yep, it is getting out of hand.

My suburb is a mess with the amount of roads that have been dug up to ''fix'' leaking pipes and then just left as is.

I stay on a main road and in the space of ~500m they have trenched right across the road in two places to ''fix'' leaks and then just chucked sand in, which washes away and now you have to come to a dead stop if you want to safely get over both. Traffic is a disaster as a result.

Numerous other streets in the area look like they have been shelled in a warzone with all the dug-up patches. Some have been like this for over a year.

Basically like every other place in this complete and utter dump of a cun-tree. Except cape town of course.
