Jo'burg ditches Telkom

Hallelujah!!

Ladies & gentlemen, the demon has been 'exercised' - this city is safe now.

Oh man, I'm gonna drink a toast on Joburg tonight!!

Now I just wish Cape Town would get off it's Telkom loving fat bum and do something as well.

/me starts laying candles around Durban and begins chanting the same spell Joburg used to exercise the evil Telkom spirit...

wooooot!
I may just find a reason to move to JHB :D

Here's your reason!!

When you cross the Vaal River and get the 'Welcome in Gauteng' sign, you're almost there. If you make it to the Grasmere Toll Plaza, tell the cashier that you're moving to Gauteng permanently - you will get a lot of discount on your OWN illegal gun! How cool is that?(Just cough twice and the cashier will pass you the shopping catalogue.)

Two things to remember when shopping:

1. A 9mm pistol is like an old Nokia mobile - only the old folks use it.
2. Get a 'crowd pleaser', um, something flashy like an AK-47, or a R-5 assault rifle - more important status symbol than your SLK200.

So, when are we seeing you?

Actually you'll see me on Saturday en route to Delhi, then three weeks later en route to Zanzibar...
Think I'm going to retire here in the EC on second thoughts :D

I was waiting for a friend at the Claremont Library today and saw two security guards carrying uzi's! We took a double take and couldn't believe it. Uzi's! How cool and sad at the same time. :( And all this to guard the welfare payouts at the civic centre there in Claremont.

That's SO sad - I really thought you're coming to Gauteng!

I think there will be celebrations throughout Joburg for years to come! They have defeated the once mighty Telkom!!

*Me thinks it's comparable to the last episode of Star Wars - A NEW HOPE!!

We used Uzis on the ships in the Navy - guess the Navy sold it to them? How else would they get hold of it? Bloody brilliant to shoot with, but extremely unsafe.

Well, criminals are now using R4 & R5 assault rifles - that are supposed to be ONLY used by the defense force in this country. How the hell does defense force weapons end up in hi-jackings & armed robberies? Go figure....

You're joking... right?

>Defence Minister Mosiuoa Lekota on Friday said about 50000 rounds of
>ammunition, 97 mortar bombs, 46 R-4 assault rifles, three light machine
>guns, two pistols and two grenades had been lost or stolen in the course
>of peace-support missions. He was replying to a question from Democratic
>Alliance MP Roy Jankielsohn.

Of course, "lost or stolen" is probably an euphemism for "sold for drug money".

If you know the right people, it's easy to fudge those SANDF dockets that report what's in the armoury. I remember how easy it was to get a lift on the flossie for a pie from those PF guys when I was there... I imagine it's the same now.

Uzis?

Lol - I remember those things... they are very tempremental. Heard of a guy who fell asleep in a chair while doing gate duty and the thing went off as it hit the floor. He got a bullet through both thighs... which included a scrotum entry and exit wound. Amazingly thought, no testicle damage.

I thought you Hotel Hub guys used R5's? But then again us Simonsberg outjuies were issued FN's - apparently R1's were scarce and reserved for the PF guys. The FN was like a log with a barrel - PT with that thing was no fun :D

But back to the topic... good to hear that JHB and a major bank is ditching hellskommels... things are starting to pick up speed, and will soon be like a BIG rolling stone which can't be stopped... :D

insert into table hellskommels
load from file burn_telkom_burn.unl

:D :D :D

I've seen cash guards with Uzis at petrol stations as well, lately... the truly sad thing is that the guns don't look very well-maintained :( Maybe they're buying weapons from the transit heist guys? :P

As for guns going missing from the army... if you 'only' want government to have guns, then you want criminals to have them too.
