So, when is phase 2 of the Joburg launch going to happen? It is supposed to be this month but has anyone got any concrete dates?

Cell C rep, perhaps you can help?

First time I ever heard of a "Phase 2"

Whatever it is called, they said that they could not roll out east and west rand due to the world cup freeze. So a lot of Joburg has no coverage.

I am also waiting for Phase 2 - I heard by Mid-jan some parts of the South should be covered I have also seen tons of fibre but no 3G live in my area yet - unless I sit in the lounge facing CBD which is about +- 5KM

A Cell C store told me there is rumor of mid Feb. I am so gat vol of waiting :(

The CEO said mid Jan at the JHB launch. He also said that the holiday season would slow down their progress.

So to be on the safe side, think February.

MadHawk - I have seen the fibre dudes in my area November/December last month but that fibre was probably ment for MTN and Vodacom towers cause I did check guys working at those towers once the fibre was connected to the towers and I have no forking clue where exactly CELL C base station are located in my area, probably the technical crew will be doing the necessary improvements to the base stations by this week, cross fingers if so then I will give feed back...

I am connecting to CBD for sure which is roughly around 5KM or so in my bedroom 3G is non existent.
