I have a Aspire One with built in 3G that I want to install for someone to use to connect to the internet using a Cell C data card

My question is this:

Install went fine and all, On 1st use it asked me for settings to use for 3G. I selected South Africa and got a menu to select SP. It had Cell C listed and the default APN was set to internet.

Problem is when I try to connect it pop's up asking for a password and does not accept no password. Anyone had this or know how to fix this?

Same laptop worked fine with Ubuntu, its just that Unity is not a decent interface to give to a person thats new to PC's

try your JoliCloud account password?

I tried that, I saw now it had a username of CellCID and password blank under the network settings.

Making both blank doesn't work.

I know how to go fix the ppp files manually using AT+CGDCONT=1,”IP”,”internet”,”",0,0 but would love to have been able to use the built in tools to connect. Esp seeing that its not for me.

Remove the username, leaving the username AND password blank, should work then. I had the same issue with Ubuntu, and leaving the username AND pasword blank allowed it to connect.

EDIT: Nvm, see you've tried that.
