Klitschko Spurs'd it. He had Joshua on toast but then he bottled it. He was probably confident after Joshua wobbled that he could win the fight.

Sad that this is the state of heavyweight boxing.
Hate to think what Tyson would have done to either of these two, let alone Ali, Frazier or Foreman.

Boxing has become a bit of a farce but these 2 are proper champions! Was an amazing fight!

He won his first 19 professional fights by knockout, 12 of them in the first round, and some of those knockouts were to the body.
Besides Earnie Shavers I have never seen anyone with a punch as powerful as Tyson.

The old wolf let the young 'un recharge his batteries. Klitschko should've pounced on AJ in the 6th and 7th while he was still on heavy legs. AJ's a big unit and he was sucking air and not moving well.
He should retire now. 41-years old and taking hits like that is no good.
It was those muscles. Joshua reminds me of a tall, lanky guy that pumped iron to reach the weight he is at. If you compare him to Lennox Lewis, Lewis at his peak was heavier but nowhere near as muscular and he could box for a full 12 rounds with no problems. A naturally big man that could move his body vs a man that has blown himself up and pays for it when those muscles start asking for more and more oxygen.

AJ was amateurish. He wouldn't have lasted against either Vitali or Wladimir Kltschko, Lennox Lewis in their waning years - late 30s.
Wilder should feel very confident against him, but I think AJ's coaches and the rest of the world got a reality check. All of Wilder, Parker and AJ are far from world class heavyweight boxing level so expect a lot of work to be done with them between now and their next fights.
Right now I think Tyson could take them all on at 3 week intervals and beat them within 2 rounds.
AJ has zero defence it's so shocking! Wladimir jabbed him a will. I would put my house on Fury against him without hesitating.

Boxing evolves. Mike Tyson never had a defense either. Most his opponents were intimidated by him. Tyson was only good for the first few rounds. Most his opponents in the mid 80s to mid 90s weren't really on his level. Nowhere close. But have a look at the fights against Holyfield, Lewis and Williams. There was also a Irish boxer which I can't recall the name anymore who knocked him out. They were more in his caliber. He's lost each of those fights.
AJ reminds me of young foreman and Buster Douglas, who also knocked Tyson out btw.
I doubt Tyson would've easily knocked out any of the recent heavy weights champs.

The 'Irish boxer' was Kevin McBride, Tyson's last fight ever, and Tyson quit, he wasn't knocked out.
Nobody is suggesting Tyson had much more than a ferocious punch and most times a killer instinct but in his prime I doubt there was any boxer he could not ko including the so-called recent heavy-weights.
Not forgetting his incredible speed - that was his main defense, he was just never where he should have been so you could never punch him.
I think Tyson AJ would have resulted in a hospital visit to be honest.
VK out-boxed him in my eyes, but lost due to age/fitness. He just got tired, couldn't keep up at the end.

Mike Tyson never had a defence? I lol'd.

As for whether he could cope with a big power-hitter; his ability to cope with Frank Bruno and Razor Ruddock were good indicators that he had no trouble standing up to them, taking massive hits from the pair of them while delivering his own. Tyson - Ruddock II, while not of the highest quality in terms of technicality, showcased the power of both fighters with Ruddock suffering a broken jaw and Tyson a perforated ear drum as both fighters were headhunting all fight.

As for defeats, those came post prison when he was done as a fighter. Three years behind bars and the associated mental meltdown done Tyson no favours. He was also visibly slowing in his last few fights pre-jail time and the jail time would've just accelerated the decline. Buster Douglas was the only one that can lay claim to defeating Tyson at his peak and that, as history would tell us, was just one of those moments in sports. Douglas had the fight of his career and he would disappear from the radar after losing his one and only title defence.
No doubt in my mind that a 86 - 89 Tyson would'be walked through these giant plodders we see today. Actually, I think any of the reputable heavyweights from the 80s and early 90s (Tyson, Ruddock, Bowe, Bruno, Holyfield, Lewis) would steamroll any of the current heavies.

But I do agree that post Tyson / Holmes / Lewis, the heavyweight division (s) has not produced anyone close to the legends.
And perhaps the same in some of the other weights as well.
The middleweight group particularly - Hagler, Leonard, Hearns and Duran - never to be surpassed.
