Howzit Guyz,

What stretching exercises would you guys recommend?

I find myself hurting muscles I didn't even know I had !!!

 :( :D

(That comes from someone who did Military PT)

I must say though, the martial art is AWESOME !!!

:)

Ah, the dialed back, watered down emasculated sport that had its origins in something *real*! :D Why not go the whole hog 'n get into jujitsu, effectively the source of judo?

./remove-tongue-from-cheek

But I'd like info on this too, I find getting thrown around a li'l too enthusiastically has me hurtin' too.

I am interested in starting Judo. I live in the Sandton, Sandown areas. I am looking for a local Dojo. Any ideas? Where do you go?

Aikido is different - Judo is a good starting point for the other martial arts

Aikido > Judo

Judo u need to grap onto someone and throw them. Aikido will pwn you on every attack you try, and brake some bones in the process with your own attacking force

I went to a display one day and this guy told me to go full out and try and take him down. He nearly broke both my bloody arms and I was really trying. he then told me to attack with less force, and he couldn't do nothing to me. Aikido uses your own attack force against you. The harder you try the more hurt you get

Judo is the same. It's about using your opponent's momentum and strength etc. against them. Aikido is a branching from Jujitsu from which Judo originates.

The Judo you see in the Olympics is the watered-down version. Many techniques are forbidden due to their lethality. Judo (the M.A), BTW, also includes strikes, leg locks and ankle locks...

Fact is, there is no superior martial art. All have their strengths and weaknesses. The ultimate would be the training of two or more...

PS.

How many guys in MMA use Aikido techniques? True. You could say that some holds etc. are Aikido in nature, but so too with Judo.

All Martial Arts are to be respected. Aikido, Judo, Karate etc. Aikido and Judo are very similar, I deeply respect Aikido, but prefer Judo for various reasons...

;)
