Jump Starting a Car

It will only work if you manage to have enough battery to get "ignition on" then it is possible.

You can push start a manual with a clutch, but not any auto. Does not matter if the auto is triptronic or not. Auto is auto!

Older auto Mercs (80s - 90s era) could be tow started; towed by another car to about 30kph when the gearbox would lock up enough to turn the engine. I would never want to do that myself though, no thanks.

Would not work unless you can disengage the mobiliser. Or override the mobiliser. Unless the mobiliser is deactivated you will push till your in Australia :D

It cranked but didn't actually start. Immobilizer was fine

That is what the immobilizer is for :p It will turn but won't start unless the immobilizer is deactivated. Thus the reason you won't be able to push start it with a dead battery.

If you say cranked I assume you jump started it with jumpers. There is a difference between run start and jump starting a vehicle.
