As promised, I spoke to my client about all of your feedback, and his response was: " I am 100% ok to pay more for a junior dev as long as the dev has exceptional scores on their relevant exams." So, now you can apply for this position and know that you will potentially work for a company who listens to what their people want and need.

Yes, the forum didn't update my post to reflect the higher offer
I still have one role on this level to fill. And the good news is that this firm's international board has just mandated more positions in other dev. languages. I am waiting for the salary ranges, then I'll list them here, please do feel free to give any feedback whatsoever, it teaches me so much about your industry to be speaking directly to you

Sheesh I was paid R7k for my first job as a Java Dev. Young and desperate.

That amount of money is paid to interns without any experience nowadays.
R5k as junior perl developer but that was about 8 years ago.
