11am and I heard the neighbours alarm going off from my home office. They broke in a week or two ago and I missed them, this time I jumped the wall within seconds and saw the broken window and bent burglar bars.

I didn't have time to get a weapon and shouted for my daughters boyfriend that they are still there. Just then I heard noise in the bushes nearby and saw the guy jump over the wall.

I didn't have time to think and shouted at him to stop then chased him on foot. I shouted that I was going to catch him and was gaining when he jumped over a gate into a neighbouring wall. I just went after him, jumed the gate and managed to corner him in the yard.

I shouted to him to get on the ground and threatened to give him a klap if he resisted. He started moving and told me he's got a knife and will stab me. To be honest, I didn't even want to use my bare hands on him in case he had HIV, so I shouted for my daughters boyfriend to come help... in the mean time he made his way over a wall.

I went into the house nearby and asked the guy who happened to be home to call the cops as there had been a break in. By then I found a few others in the street, one with a couple of knop kierries, so I borrowed one and went on the hunt.

I saw the guy in a nearby yard and just hopped fence a few times until I cornered him. I shouted to him again to take a seat and he advanced towards me, so I gave him a swift klap to the side of the knee and he sat down quickly.

We managed to get him to the street (by then there were three to five guys helping) and got the cops. They arrived, took a statement, had a look at the place and took him away.

Not the kind of action I long for in a working day.

Welldone!!!!

Love stories like these, good going man.
I hate people who are just too scared to do anything besides lock the door and call the cops... guys would be long gone by then..

*gives medal*

Lekker story...

Full marks for effort, and full marks for execution.... esp with the knobkerrie :D

Ja, nice that he was caught... now he has a bone to pick... he lives in the nearby squatter camp (about 5km away) and told my daughters b/f 'I know where you live'

It really bugs me that I need to think about that now. They have been poisoning dogs around town lately too. We are the only ones with larger dogs in the neighbourhood. I also travel a bit... and will be studying in the coming months - away from 6pm to 9pm when there is load shedding in my neighbourhood... I have two young kids and my wife and older daughter...
It all leaves a bad taste in your mouth.

To be honest he looks like a harmless squatter, but you never know and I decided, if no-one does anything, they will be back anyway. So thought it's time to do something... Thing is you never know... I think I just need to take precautions and am looking at some sort of security setup... at least alert system and some skok-stokke for around the house.

I suppose you had cops that missed the meeting with the Deputy Minister - because that could have solved your problem.

I would also have given him only one hit with the knopkirrie on his knee, just above the ear.
Well, maybe more than one hit !!!

Well Done !!!!

If he does come back you are Justified to kill him ;) (meaning your house ofc. after what he said. Just note that in the statement)

Hmmm.. with a threat like that, Id have taken some pictures of him and put them on the net "anonymously" from an internet cafe. If anything happens we all know who to look for =)

Im cellphone happy. If someone threatens me I always take a pic of them and send to my buddies =)

That's the thing - they will be back... Maybe the Deputy Minister is right after all.
Had an incident the other night as well - bastards came into my sleeping room and I chased them away. Just scared that they might be seriously armed next time.
