Here.
Bunch of god damn coloureds just mugged me me on town in broad god damn daylight with a whole bunch of people around me. South African whoohoo crime

Waiting for the British passport...

Wish I could say the situation was improving but it really isn't. You never really think about it until it happens to you.

Yeah, I had a mug attempt in Cape Town CBD (Was a sunday and the park next to the main metrorail terminal)... I fought back though. About 7 of the little buggers (between the age of 10 -19).

I also had an attempted mugging from two 17 year olds outside the KFC in the CBD... they tried to look like a stranded couple but I noticed the knife in his hand.

Ya, town is pretty dodgy if you're not careful.

It's ****ing crazy. You think you're prepared until it happens then you're just like what the **** is going on? I think they were 4 of them probably my age or there abouts. Before I knew it they had disappeared with my wallet and phone.

This was by the castle in town. :/

muggers should have the tables turned on them for a change but sadly they are almost always in a gang or have weapons on them.

Worst thing is when there are a lot of people around and they all do nothing.

I, for one, would intervene. And I am not just talking big.

If everyone did that, there would be a lot fewer of these opportunistic muggings.

Yea just give them your wallet and phone and move on man, life cannot be replaced.

Fsck that. Fight back I say. Living in a society where you fear to walk around in broad daylight in case you get mugged, is not living at all.

There are still people like you around, thank goodness. About 5 years ago, my cellphone was grabbed right out of my hand on a busy street in broad daylight and a guy who saw it happen, chased the perp. He got such a fright that he dropped the phone.

was your muggers armed ?

-last time i was allmost mugged was in PTA CBD; close to the place where you get your unemployment fund. and that was @#$ close, some bear from the gym saved my ass.

while i don't disagree, i would say i would rather lose my wallet and phone and know thats all i will lose.

Its like my sister and her boyfriend went the E cape 2 weeks ago and the guys were in her room and they both just pretended to be asleep, now some men might think ok let me be a hero and you wind up with a dead g/f or you both die over things that can be replaced.

Seems pointless to die for things you can replace the next day.

I am saying that is what I would do. So far I have not really been mugged.

I have had two men approach me and demand money( not in a begging kind of a way but a demanding kind). I just said no and carried on walking, which worked for some reason.

I am saying that this is the attitude people should have.

If they are armed, fsck it. At least try to fight back.

You know how many stories there are of people complying with all the wishes of intruders, muggers, hijackers only to end up shot in the head in a ditch somewhere.

I'd rather fight and take my chances.

For me, the right to live in a society that does not have to live in fear of these criminal fsckers is worth much more. I am willing to fight to defend this right.

Yes but you must think of what can happen first before you decide to be a hero, being a hero can often lead to things that would mess you up alot more than a wallet and a cellphone.

What exactly happened?

And yeah, the majority of coloureds are gang-banging scum. Crime is always proportionate to poverty, but they are the exception. 90% of SA's poverty is a black problem, and 90% of the crime is done by coloureds...

Gotta love 'em.

One of them just comes infront of you and his **** buddy friends are behind you and the just crowd you and lift the **** out of your pockets and **** off. It happened in like 10 seconds.

just asking.... but i feel the love too :)

-as per my statical side; thinking on how to and what not to - thats all.

Yea maybe if your own henry but if you have friends or g/f with you, i think fighting back would be the worst thing possible.

Even more so if my gf is with me. She agrees wholeheartedly with you on this point, might I add. :(

I just don't think we should make the criminals' live so easy. If everyone fought back, there would be almost no crime.

Imagine getting mugged in a mall, and everyone turns around and attacks the muggers...That would not turn out too well for the mugger :)

Yeah thats what stunned me most of all. There people everywhere and they did **** all. Typical reflection on society.
