So I just got my first iPhone 3GS for a pretty sweet deal (late to the party I know). Anyway, I thought I'd tried out a multiplayer poker game, so I hit the App store and realize there's a pretty sucky selection of apps, though googling shows there are a lot of multiplayer poker games for the iPhone.

How have you guys been getting around the region restrictions in the AppStore, is it as easy as just registering a US account and will this work with SA credit cards?

Its not too difficult:
- Go set up a US iTunes account, using an address and zip code from a state that does not levy sales tax on internet sales (I use Iowa, but there are others).
- Set up a PayPal account with your US address. Link an SA credit card to it.
- Hit eBay and buy iTunes gift cards for the US store. Be careful of scams or deals which are too good to be true. Expect to pay $1 or $2 above face value for this. Use your "US" PayPal account to pay for this.
- The seller will email you the gift card number, which you can then redeem within iTunes Store on the iPhone or the PC.

What you cannot do is use an SA credit card or PayPal account without a verified US credit card to buy directly from Apple. They are able to verify the validity of the billing details, and won't process your order.

erm... not trying to be rude or anything but why get a 3GS now when you couldv waited a month and 10 days and gotten an iPhone 4 from vodacom.....

He said it was a pretty sweet deal so he probably didn't get it from Vodacom

Not to mention that the price on the iPhone 4 is likely to be high, whereas a 3GS is probably available at a more-or-less decent price.

I didn't get it from Vodacom (OMG RIP OFF), or that would have definitely been a consideration. I got the phone for R2300 (brand new), so it was an irresistible bargain.

how did you do that?

fck...thats bad hey...feel so bad for copa. But yes, cellphones gets stolen, gets sold to ignorant people and so it goes. The market is there and so it will continue. But I am assuming the OP bought his phone from a online store. No warranty will be provided on this phone though I am sure.

Its brand new in the box, so no, no one was stabbed in the process afaik. And correct, no warranty, but I can live with that, being able to buy 4 for the price of 1 from Vodacom.
