Just how bad are things at Eskom?

I love this quote: "Strange that one has not heard a word from our President Jacob Zuma & Minister of Energy Tina Joemat-Pettersson on the #Eskom energy crisis"
Some reasons:
1) They couldn't hold the news conference due to the load shedding! 2) Their minds were load shedded just before the news conference started! 3) Matters more urgent in China kept them out of circulation!

"Eskom generates, transmits and distributes approximately 95% of the electricity used in South Africa & approximately 45% of the electricity used in Africa."

Why don't they take back the 45% they are giving other african countries and use it inside South Africa?

You're misunderstanding. Of all the electricity produced in Africa, Eskom produces 45%. They're not exporting 45%.
