Hi there. No, haven't received mine yet. My brother received his sim this morning so I should get mine today. We got the call the same morning.

So maybe I'm lucky.;)

Couriers have just delivered my 128K SIM, thanks Piesang I don't think this could have happened without you.

Unfortunately it seems this batch of 128K SIMs are not like the first batch of 128K SIMs that went out. These come without numbers and need to be "sim-swapped" with your old SIM, which means deactivating your old card and activating the new card. This is a show-stopper for me, I gave my son my old SIM which he has been using for the last two months, now Virgin expect me to buy a new starter pack!

Piesang,

Any news on when these new 128K sims will be available at the retail outlets?

Also I've noted that only 3Gee has mentioned that the new sim seems to work with his E620. Anybody using a different card?

I'd just like to see if there are issues with for example the Option Nozomi. Anybody tried the new card in one?

I've been postponing buying a VM sim, 'cause I'd like to be sure it'll work with my card (which isn't locked - been using MTN and even Cell-C the last few months).

Please let us know. 50c/MB would be very nice.

I have got mine

And it is working so far. Not the best speed right here but OK esp at 50c a MB

I was away for the weekend, got home today and my new Virgin Mobile sim was lying on my desk. Apparently it was delivered Friday morning. So first thing tomorrow morning I'm contacting Virgin Mobile to do the sim swop then I'm on the 50c/MB wagon.;)

I'm sorted this morning - sim swop also done (took 10 min). Ready for my business trip later this week at decent data rates. Into the shredder goes the VC pre-paid card....!

Quick question.

the VirginMobile data rates is about a quarter the price than vodacom. is the "service and reliability" worse than vodacom ? i mean if i use the gprs to connect with vodacom at the moment, but i switch it to VM would i be able to use it or is it crappy and pretty much worth only a quarter of the price?

how will i no if my new card is 128 or 256 , recieved it on tuesday

128 / 256 ? compared to my 32k sim? or what you talking about? why do i feel like i'm WAY behind??

@Albert - from home, the Vodacom service is so crappy that dial up is better hence my switching to Virgin which at least has edge. MTN also good on edge at my home.

Bleegh - the only problem was Virgin whos 64k sim did not work in the Huawei card hence their upgrade to a new 128k sim. I am still using 32k sims on both VC and MTN via phone and datacard with no problems.

Anybody on this thread experiecing a problem with new 128k/256k Virgin Mobile sims?

since using the VM sim in my E620 MTN HSDPA card, the VM service still seems to take quite a while (20-30s) to connect, and recently it seems very unstable.... disconnects regularly, or shows as still connected, but no transferring of data. :(
I generally have about 75%-full signal. The Sierra Wireless card's service seemed much better.... perhaps I should invest (R350!) in an external antenna for the Huawei card, maybe that'll help things

My sim is working perfectly. Speeds is not 100% what it's supposed to be. The fastest I got so far was about 74kb/s.

Must say, the wheater is not very good tonight. It's raining and that could influence the speeds.

Will let you know. Don't have problems with opening webpages. Haven't download anything yet.

Will download something and then have a look at the speeds again.
