Just want to share some love for the best smartphone of all time, the E71.

Mine is almost 3 years old and still running strong.

Been due for an upgrade since last September, and honestly there just isn't anything good enough to beat it (besides the Galaxy S...)

Gonna have to wait for dual-core :)

Ya, which is why my wife got one on her previous contract. Nokia was still the business, and the E71 was supposedly the be-all and end-all. Pity hers had been a constant pain in the arse for the last 12 months; freezes, reboots, dropped calls, unsent SMSs, pathetic battery life...

I'm sure we just ended up with a dud, but the E71 was instrumental in weaning both of us from Nokia permanently.

When last did you update the software?

Definitely a dud - the one thing that depresses me about upgrading is that I know the new smartphones' battery life come no where close to the E71. When I'm out of town (low usage), mine lasts for just under a week on a 2G network with bluetooth off. -sigh-

The software was current as of a few months ago - there was always the the forlorn hope that "this update will fix it". :p

I'm in exactly the same position.....waiting for the dual cores. Definately going droid for next phone though - Nokia has stepped off the plate with their new phone. For now E71 is keeping the droids at bay.

I also still love my 3 year old E71. I agree that the battery life can't be beat.

I saw the V500 firmware out a few months ago. I tried upgrading November with no luck, guess Vodacom didn't got it ready then. Is it ready now? When did you upgrade?
