Dear iBurst Subscriber,

Your xxxxx account usage reflects the following:

Uploaded: 200.68MB
Downloaded: 687.82MB
Combined Total: 888.50MB
Remaining: 8.13GB

By this time of the month, I'm usually 2/3rds through the bandwidth. Just been sooooo busy this month. What should I be spending my bandwidth on? Any good suggestions? If I gave you 8 gigs unshaped at 1Mbps, what would you do with it?

I would have downloaded Prison Break, LOST, and so much more. Also a lot of updates to download for all my clients, and servers usually needs updating as well...

Can think of a lot of things to update and download. I can also do with a dvd or two, but in general I would suggest download something that you can use...:P

ok, so I have not been of much help, but maybe, just maybe I have given you an idea or two :P

No, DOWNLOAD LIFE. as Telkom say, so therefore life can obviously be downloaded with 3 gigs or less.

So now that you have an extra life youve still got 5gb left over.. hmmm
Downloading music is obviously going to give you the most media to consume, you can only get like two seasons of a show with your 8gb, but TONS of music. Id finish off my family guy season and dowlad the simpsons i'm missing if it were my bandwidth.
I wouldnt bother with Lost, prison break etc, those are just the latest hype programs that everyone watches, you can prob get the DVD and rip it very easiy.

Thanks for the ideas, guys. I think I'm going to hunt down a couple of movies that I just can't get hold of in this country. Haven't got time to watch anything I download, but when I do have time, it will at least be there. Just can't stand the idea of not using up the bandwidth!

If we were paying reasonable prices in SA, it probably wouldn't bug me so much...

  Is that unshaped?completely? *thinks hard and scrathes chin* your answer will determine me upgrading my package or not :D

so please let me know.please,please

Hmmmm I used to use Bearshare and pomp the music downloads on a 56k with R7 a call :D, what about Rapidshare? But serious, let me know about this unshaped stuff...I'm interested....

All p2p is unshaped, torrents, and obviously Rapidshare, which is unshaped on all Iburst as it uses http downloads.
The FTP and the unsual stuff is unshaped, but i dont think it is completley unshaped, but what do you want besides p2p?

Dunno

But you neva know, something weird could come up, like Voipbuster or Skype and then it doesn't perform or something.

It seems worth it though R1k for 9gb and I'm payin R469 for 1gb :(

anyhoo.. Does anyone here or can give some additional Dling links for the latest movies music etc?

thanks

download games boet.....

as i am a game kop.... thats all i download.... this morning I have already done the new sin emergence game......

I'm not sure if the G9 is completely unshaped but I don't see why there would need to be any shaping if they are not shaping p2p. Limeware is a pleasure, and extremely fast.

When I get a chance to breathe, I'm going to look at torrents again. I gave up on them with the shaped G3 package as I could only get them to work (and even then not very well) with proxy servers, and that whole aspect was very messy and time-wasting.

Skype works beautifully.

I can't be absolutley sure, but looking at some of the international pings posted on this forum (ie google), mine seem to be, on average, about 50-100ms faster. So it is possible that the latency is marginally better without the packet-sniffing.

Can someone on the G1/3 post a tracert to Google, I'd also like to see whether the route is identical to mine. I suspect the G9 might not be going through the squid proxy server.

Heres my tracerts on G3 gatecrasher. Hope it helps, will be interesting if g9 is totally unshaped or has better performance.

Heres a trace I did right now, I took about three, this was the second best one, I lost the first one by mistake.
The ping to the first adress, whihc is the Iburst gateway, is slowish for some reason.

While we on this whole download thing, I'm on a 1G account (i'll never have an issue not finishing my cap). My question is, what kind of bandwidth do you guys end a month with and where do you download from? I'm using emule p2p, doesn't matter what time of the month I use it I get max 3kbps.

Help a guy out here, please!

p2p is not always the best thing to use for downloading stuff. HTTP is always the best choice as then you get unshaped speeds.

As for finding places you need to scour the net and IRC channels and meet a few people who might point you in the right direction.
