While we on this whole download thing, I'm on a 1G account (i'll never have an issue not finishing my cap). My question is, what kind of bandwidth do you guys end a month with and where do you download from? I'm using emule p2p, doesn't matter what time of the month I use it I get max 3kbps.

Help a guy out here, please!

I've pushed 3GB off my 1GB already........shhhhhh don't tell iBurst. :D

p2p is not always the best thing to use for downloading stuff. HTTP is always the best choice as then you get unshaped speeds.

As for finding places you need to scour the net and IRC channels and meet a few people who might point you in the right direction.

I think I posted this before somewhere, but for music check out notlegal.info
Its alot of metal and lots of other stuff too. Always good quality rips.

For pretty much anything, mostly all latest software and movies + games. check out phazeddl.com , they link to other sites that usually have direct downloads.

I have already scoured the net and can point you around if you need help finding stuff. Some sites arent the best to ddl from.

and guba.com has quite a few TV sieries straight off the usenet, but you can download them full speed for frre. One at a time.

and i hope none of you guys need pr0n or anything but thats the easiest to find, free full movies i mean..

If you can afford a Rapidshare premium account (about R200 for 3 months) you will find a lot of stuff (i.e. see RapidShared.org). With the premium account, you can pull multithread downloads, and of course, it is HTTP, so no shaping. Very easy to max out your connection.

Trying to use Rapishare free downloads, though, is a big problem on Iburst, because of IP sharing.

I have never had a problem with the free service, not once and I use rapidshare and MANY other uploading sites alot, almost every day.

Dont see how it is a big problem unless that is a JHB thing.
The free downloads are okay, singlethreaded but you can use a download manager proble mis that you can resume and it occasionally cuts out the nyou have tp restart. There are tons of sites like rapidshare though. and many websites whcich uses uploading services to give you almost anything.

the only problem that I have with Rapidshare is that you may only download 3gigs a day. Then they block you for exessive downloads....... :(

Maybe it is a JHB thing. I would say 8/9 out of 10 times when I went to download a file, it said I needed to wait an hour.

I haven't resubscribed. With unshaped p2p, there are many other options.

I-guru, is that limit on the free service? I'm sure there is no limit on the premium service.

Waiting an hour happens when your IP has downloaded almost any amout over about 20mb.. Are you shure you havent done this yourself or are using a proxy?

But there are alot more Iburst users in JHB, but it is starnge that I have NEVER had this problem before and I use rapidshare quite alot.

You think you got probs, just wait till they find out I've been doing 9 gigs each month on a 1gig account :D

Damn.. if only I had the 1G account, then I could get used to 64kb speeds. With my 3G shared between 3pc's I cant really get capped until a day or two before the end of the month, otherwise others complain.

Sucks.. I always feel like I've got even better internet once I'm capped because its so much nicer for peace of mind. I download so much more musc that usual.

I pay for rapidshare monthly, and for what i pay i can only do 3 gigs a day

EDIT**

How much may I download as a free user?

Since we are offering our service for free users with full speed as well, we have included a download-limit, which is set to 30 MB per hour. If you like to use our service, we hope that you will decide to buy a premium-account. Premium-accounts do not have this limitation. Furthermore they have many more advantages. Check it out here.

For my account

Your traffic-account can hold 15000 MB and will be filled with 3000 MB per day. Currently you have 324753 KB of free traffic left in your traffic-account. To download files with your Premium-Account, you have to know the URL of that file and click on it. For privacy-reasons we do not offer a search-engine (See FAQ). Thus your uploads are safe here and will only be downloaded by the people you give the URL to.

So how is that a probem? can you even do 3gigs a day on Iburst?
And also, that would cap most people within the day.. some could last for two days of downloading, so I dont really see this as a problem, maby for some guys overseas yes..

I geuss you arent even saying its a problem, im just adding that. It basically doesnt matter, its nice for us, at least we dont for more that we cant use.

btw i-Guru, I *sometimes* find that a download on rapidshare disconnects and it the ncannot reconnect because the file isnt there (same place on server) and anyway they dont supprt resuming.
So if you pay do your downloading go with resume enabled and without the file being moved if you want to restart your downlaod?
It sounds worth it.. its almost like a news server.

well,... let me just say... before i started paying for Rapidshare, I used to get a lot of broken links...or even the file would disapear. But now since I pay, its never happened to me. I use their Download tool RapidGet, and it merrily downloads all my stuff all day long, and even resumes broken connections.

Anycase if you were wondering, i use 2 9 gig packages, and I only on download weekends..... untill i hit my cap...then i do nothing..... and the most I have done in a day is 5 gigs.....

Holy damn I wish I could have 2x 9gig accounts, are they really fully unshaped?

well, everyting works fine, even p2p, which I hardly use, as I find I get faster speeds from Rapidshare, and that the files remain there, unlike p2p, when the users disconnect.

I only use http, so I would not really know how to check all protcols, and if they work....

Oka, well in that case I geuss you can do more than 3gigs in a day, but getting it al off rapidshare is still unnecisary...
But i geuss i never thauhgt of such a extreme Iburst connection before.

So I have been wondering, do you have two UTx's?
If you do, can you plaug say one into USB and another into ethernet and have a 2mbs theoretical service?
Basically can you have two Ibursts running concurrently on one PC nd use both of their bandwidth.

I have tried to multilink the two UTD's but it does not work, then I got hold of one of the iBurst techies, who told me that multilinking has been disabled on their network :(, so I have my two PC's connected each with their own account.

Sofar rapidshare works for me, as I always seem to have half downloaded files when I do DC++..... I have just started using BitComet....seems to be working fine, if you find a file with many seeds...

if only they allowed 1 account for more than 1 UTx, then you might be able to link them
