JVC 32' LED Smart TV

I would rather take a 32" Samsung F4000 for R2999 than a 38" Sinotec for R3400, but that's just me.

I have owned a Sinotec before, and not that it's a bad TV, I just think a Samsung is better... even if it's not Full HD and the Sinotec was Full HD.

Sinotec was great 6 years ago when it was R10k for a 42" Sinotec and more like R18K for a "brand name" 42"..... but not now...not anymore - The Price difference today isn't worth it!

Thanks for all the intel. The IC Sammy 32F4000 for R3k deal seems like a winner; its R400 more at Game.

Based on all the feedback on MyBB in general; Samsung TV's are among the best in the league no matter the spec/series level.

You can take the price to Game and they'll beat it by 10% of the difference in price (R40). :D

So you'll pay about R2,960.
 
Just to Note, there are a few differences between the UA32F4000 (posted above) and the UA32EH4003 (posted on page 1)

The F4000 is a lot thinner than the EH4003, has twice the motion rate (100 vs 50), two HDMI's vs one, and 2x10W RMS Sound instead of 2x5W RMS. It also seems to have a lot more features.

Im not entirely sure about the "E" in "EH4003", but I think it stands for 2012 model, and "F" in "F4000" stands for 2013 model.


I would personally get the F4000.

Plasma is *** if you get a cheap one - the resolution is wtf. I would go LED samsung/lg/sharp/ and only full HD. Rather pay for imo but you will keep the TV muuuccchhh longer.

Really depends on your usage and viewing distance. If no PC use, and a mixture of SD/HD media, and sitting a good distance away in the case of HD, they are fantastic, offering superior picture quality to similarly priced LCDs.
 
I'm also TV shopping for the parents. Going into Game this week will take a look, but it seems to also be a choice between the two Samsung's and the JVC although I'm a bit apprehensive about the JVC but I'll first take a look at it before I make judgements.

EDIT: And I see there is also a Sony for R3999. Max budget is R4k btw.

43" HD Ready plasma is usually a good contender for the older generations who tend to watch a lot of SD, or a good mixture of SD/HD. You'd be getting a well-sized screen, too. The most important aspect though is having dimmer viewing conditions, or mainly after hours viewing when it's darker, because LCD handles brighter conditions better.

Unless they sit close, try fork out for 40" - 42" LCD. 32" is really only good for close viewing.

If you feel 32" is good, the Incredible special is good. Your folks probably don't need Full HD.

Ye, my mom specifically wants a smaller TV as they had a bigger one previously (Telefunken which died because of the bad quality power in the area). Will probably end up getting the Samsung but I'll keep my options open. I see Makro has a 39" Sinotech for R3999 also, but that means I have to drive a lot further, they stay in Jeffreys so only big store is Game, Makro is 80km's away in PE.

40" LCD is out of budget.

43" plasma offers a good size and excellent PQ for SD and HD.

32" EH4003 is actually very nice, have one myself.

Hugely popular TV. It is a 720p television resolution - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High-definition_television#Display_resolutions.

And it would offer the best picture quality of them all in terms of blacks and colours - it's plasma.

As well as the best of both worlds for SD and HD, you have 4:3 native pixels, with a 16:9 aspect ratio.

And once 2.5m+ back, it would be hard to tell the difference between FHD on it or a 40" - 42" LCD.

Love my PS42C450 720p plasma, smokes my LA32C550 1080p LCD and UA32EH4003 720p LCD. :)
 
A 852x480 Resolution in 2013? Really?

I'd avoid unless its purely for SABC.

There are only a few LCD panel manufacturers in the world, so at some point it will be a Samsung. This is a tactic used to make the buyer think they are getting the same product for less. Of course, the LCD panel is only one component of an LCD TV, and there is much more to it which determines picture/quality.

An LCD TV is made up of various parts. The panel is only one of them (and it can be of varying quality grades). Backlighting, image processor, power supply... Just because a TV uses a Samsung panel, means very little. It's like saying because a Tata and a Toyota both use a straight 4 engine, the Tata must be as good.
