So… I read this a couple days ago and I’ve trying to put my finger on exactly what it is about this article that just made my blood boil
The fact the Zuma once again declined a public debate isn’t really it, because I expected nothing less from the man. It’s just a minor irritant at the end of the day. Hell in his position I would do exactly the same… he is the president of the party which reportedly has 60% majority support of the population. He has nothing to prove and plenty to lose in a debate with someone who one can’t really deny is a pretty sharp cookie… especially when it comes to policies that the ANC has accused the DA of not actually having
I think what really got under my skin is the fact that Zuma declined after challenging all comers to open debate during a speech at another ANC rally. This was something blasted out to a cheering crowd, this was out there for everyone to hear, this was meant to portray him as a fearless leader.
Why is it in our country that people seem to think they can get away with saying whatever they want without any consequence (hmmm… probably because they can
[/me waits for all the cries of “quoted out of context” from the ANC camp]
Isn’t it about time these poephols were held accountable for all the k@k that comes out of their mouths?
What p!ssed me off even more is that JZ often falls back on the age old Zulu “culture and traditions” excuse when it suits him. Now in the good old days of real Zulu’s, the idea of issuing a challenge and then declining when someone took you up on it would have been hazardous for one’s health. In face I’d venture that the nob who first opened his mouth with a challenge and then declined would in fact have had his head staved in by the nearest proud Zulu male over the age of 12 within earshot
