As far as i know we are discussing the word K***** if i am not mistaken, you are going on about some other random BS that has nothing to do with anything kinda like the hypothetical situation from retro.
 
Larry, how 'bout this:

It is not ok to use racial slurs against black people, fullstop. At the same time, white people generally don't give two hoots when it happens to them. For many of us it's a sticks-and-stones thing and we generally can laugh it off.

On the other hand, other forms of discrimination (take the farming story from this past Sunday's Carte Blanche for example) is a different kettle of fish. To consider that offensive would be putting it mildly.

i agree, but then stop defending the racists everytime a story like this is discussed. stay out of it if you find it so hard to understand why races other than white are offended by racial slurs.

You most likely did not even feel the effects of the apartheid. People are entitled to have what ever views they want, people can be racists if they want, just like 95% of the people in the world are racists, there are things black people do that i hate, just as there are things white people do that i hate. So telling someone to stop defending a racist, who the hell are you to even say that, where do you get the right?:) Freewill.

Sheesh...I don't ever recall defending anyone when a story like this was discussed. I just wanted to set the record straight by saying that for some white people, it's not okay to verbally abuse another race on that basis because we understand that is is offensive. If you (not you literally, of course) want to offend us, doing it verbally is going to have little impact. There are other ways that are far more effective.

What so because i posted the origins of the meaning of the word it makes me a racist?:) I would like to see how you see the meaning 'non-believer of god' deduced to 'black bastard' ? :) You are not as smart as you think you are Larry :)

Every person and/or group regardless of their skin color get offended. White people are also offended by racial slurs and I'm sure if Peter Mokaba could speak, he would agree.

Another day, another pointless thread about racism. Seriously people, any slurs should be clamped down upon in sport. It's just not cricket. As to the PC-ness of the K-Word, who really cares... Racism is alive and well and there's nothing you can do about it. So long as we can keep racist comments out of our daily lives as much as possible - it should go away in about 200 years. **** people - these things take time...

Racism will never go away, because people will always dislike cultures or each other, and as long as that is there. People will always make slurs towards the ethnics of the person.

I know of a few racists in my office, they think i am an idiot when they speak zulu. To bad i know how to speak it.

That is of course true dlk but let's be honest - black people seem to take offense and are more sensitive to racial slurs than white people, and I'm specifically excluding the use of the 'k' word here because as we all know in SA, that's the instant red card word. Fair enough, it's offensive. We understand.

The most extreme example of this would be something I read on an internet forum or comments board where somebody referred to the black population (or maybe it was referring to more than one black person - can't remember) as 'blacks'. A comment followed that (obviously posted by a black person) saying that is offensive - how dare you say 'blacks', it's 'black people'. Errr...ok? That's taking it to a new level in my opinion.

Another example would be if I called a black person a darkie. I'm quite sure that would be found to be offensive, would it not? Yet, if a black person said to me "hey, whitey...", my response would probably be something like "yes, chief. How can I help you?"

In conclusion, what I'm saying is that I walk a tight rope on these issues for fear of offending someone as it seems to happen all too easily. I rather just keep my trap shut where I can help it. Liberating, aint it?
 
By reporting on this blowing this up and bringing attention to it makes it worse.

If i tell you that it hurts me when you call me fat and ugly what are you going to do if you want to p!ss me off? So now all over the world people know that if you come to the Soccer World Cup next year and you want to p!ss some one off you just start using the K word. If it was like water on a ducks back from the begining it would have died down.

People just want to get beaten by their own stick. They had it out and ask for you to beat them with it and want to cry when someone uses it.

I also know saying it is wrong and that the Aussie must pay.
 
Imagine the irony. All those toffs chocking on their strawberries and cream when this idiot opens his mouth are dares to utter a racist remark. Then muttering amoung themselves at this outrageous contemptible little man, then on the following work day they run through job applicants for a vacancy at their company and promptly chuck in the bin applicants who's race doesn't meet their "representative quota" :rolleyes:
