K-word costs Aussie

Flanders i think it all comes down to intention hey, also with the white farmer story how would you guys feel if i defended the blacks who are killing farmer in racially motivated attacks? I am pretty sure everyone would abuse me in many ways. You should not defend racism end of story.

You would have been in doo here too because you are saying they are all backwards and still live in tribes. As i was yelled at because of a comment i made about traditional weapons.

I've just realised something. Larry, were you suggesting that I was defending the Auzzie here because, to get back to the original point and post, I agree he should be disciplined as well. Sorry, I wasn't trying to defend him.

Welcome to freedom of expression and speech :rolleyes: The world is way too PC and I for one just wish people would speak their minds without fear of offending anyone. So what if you offend them it's not going to bloody kill them sheesh!

If you bottle it up it makes it worse IMO.

As I've stated in previous threads. I'm white I'm proud to be white, I'm proud of my culture and heritage and if that makes me racist so be it. I recognise other people are different colours, I also recognise their culture is different to mine, I accept that, but not for one minute will I ever let their culture eradicate mine, and vice versa. It's been like that for millenia, and it will continue being like that for millenia.

The liberals of this world want us to live as one happy family, not ever going to happen, ever!

That's my whole point, killa. I honestly am not trying to defend racism. Can't see where I'm doing this to be honest. I'm simply using examples to varying degrees to try and get an idea of what constitutes racism.

Apparently calling more than one black person 'blacks' is racist to some. Looks like we're going to be *****-footing around non-issues for a very long time.
 
There are 2 degrees of racism: 1, you dislike people of a particular race. 2, you dislike people of a particular race and u want them all dead.

Yes true, however that proves my point, in my culture, if someone offends you, you offend them back or give them a snot-klap (In some cases yes murder does happen I won't deny that). In other cultures if you offend them they kill you. See the difference in culture? That's what I'm talking about. You're being oppressed (by not being allowed your freedom of speech) because you fear being killed. See what I'm getting at? So if you're racist for calling someone a name, they're just as racist for killing you...

If it was a black guy calling a black guy the K word.... what would their reaction be? Kill them?

It’s a tight rope indeed and I agree with you. There are black people who use racism as an excuse and it does not help at all. In fact, I often think that is racism itself.
 
The problem that is not being recognised here is that black peple whave been the brunt of racism from white people for a long time. Therefore if I do not know you, I cannot in anyway fathom what your personal stance on racism is. And as a result, it means that when a white person says something that can be interpreted as racist, it increases the possibility that I might see it as such.

Case in point is the use of blacks. It is not as uncommon as some on here might think that white people use the term “you blacks” in a derogatory manner. As a result even the word “blacks” becomes borderline.

However all that being sad, when it comes to my friends, I allow a far greater leeway as I have known them for a long while and I believe they know the boundaries. I would however never allow any of them to call me the k-word.

Ok, so let's look at this a little closer. If someone said "You Zulus/Xhosas/etc would that be classed as racism?

For example if a Xhosa person was commenting on what a Zulu person had done and said "You Zulus are ..." is that racism?

If someone calls me a soutie/soutpiel/rooinek in a derogatory manner I laugh. Why? Because the origins of the words are actually true (even if derogatory). That can be classed as racism can it not? (according to some people's opinion here). But then I choose to ignore it/offend back by calling whomever a Dutchman/K or we get into a tussle (which i'd inevitably lose :D) or laugh it off...

I'd normally just laugh it off because in the South African context that's the lable attached to my culture... I don't die because some one called me by that name.

Where do you draw the line?
