Oke i found something that white men found offensive....

They all look like frogs in blenders when they dance!!!

if you read what i said then it borders on tribalistic/xenophobic/racist etc. the context is important. but if for instance you are talking to a Zulu, then don't be surprised if that person takes offence.

If someone calls me a soutie/soutpiel/rooinek in a derogatory manner I laugh. Why? Because the origins of the words are actually true (even if derogatory). That can be classed as racism can it not? (according to some people's opinion here). But then I choose to ignore it/offend back by calling whomever a Dutchman/K or we get into a tussle (which i'd inevitably lose :D) or laugh it off...

That is how you choose to deal with it based on your experiences. But don't expect others to treat the situation the same.

I'd normally just laugh it off because in the South African context that's the lable attached to my culture... I don't die because some one called me by that name.

I would agree that we need to be careful we don’t turn the world into a place that is PC. But at that same time it doesn’t mean you should be callous and unaware. We could extend this too many various scenarios, but the fact of the matter is that Klein knew that k***** was derogatory. He admitted to such. So in the context of this article I do not see how there is even a debate.
 
The world is already a place that is too P.C.

I agree the tennis player was wrong, however his punishment was too harsh

the punishment wasn't harsh.
how many times have spanish racists brough
Eto'o to tears and only gotten away with a slap on teh wrist
from EUFA? being soft gives the racists the impression that its
cool to abuse players (esp in sport). i see FIFA have planned an anti-racism
theme to the Confed semis with each team's captain reading out a message at the beginning.

In my opinion he was :D He's said sorry and has admitted he was wrong. He's been given a fine as far as I understand it. He's paid his dues.

As for the captains reading an anti-racist message, it's laughable. Firstly because they're trying to preach to the allegedly "converted" S.A. of course is the world's ideal example of multi-culturism at work. Secondly a contrived message from a sporting captain (who himself may possibly be a racist who knows?) is not going to stop people from being racist at a football match, emotions run high (like the tennis example) and things get said, so bloody what?

The world has come to the stage where a sporting body, (FIFA) are telling someone what to say and telling millions how to behave.... very Orwellian :D

Do these speeches get read out at say for example a match between Pirates and Chiefs? My money is on no...
 
the idea of the message is not south africa's or has anything to do with the situation here. i think at the UEFA champs league final a message was also read by the 2 captains. that's because racism in football is very rife in european football.

the local games don't need to because there has not been a case of players getting racial abused by fans in the local game for obvious reasons.

Hey you don't have to be racist to the players to fall under racist abuse ;) What of the fans that are racist towards each other? Or are football players more important :D

Yes racism is a problem in football in Europe, however football supporters are a tribal lot... so it stands to reason, anything to "put the other team down" will occur. It doesn't only become about race in footy though, look at the protestant/catholic clashes at English matches, not so much these days but in the past.

A Xhosa does not address other people as "You Zulus", "You Tswanas" etc and vice-versa because it often has a negative undertone and highly offensive.
 
The sentence is out of proportion to something said in the heat of the moment.
He should of been fined, nothing more.
 
The punishment is only harsh if it falls outside the scope of punishment provided by the ATP. So if the ATP has a racism policy and the punishment falls within that, there can be no complaints.

Exactly. You can't expect some1 to be thinking clearly and PC whilst concentrating all his energies on winning the game. If he made the statement after the game it might have been different. Sport people swear all the time when they're frustrated by the way the game is going.

I don't know, let's ask the bulls supporters they have the most experience in that dept. btw, sa soccer fans treat white supporters very well when they go to games.

so he reverted to type and his belief things should not be going wrong against a black player as because he is white he is clearly superior?

The guy made a racist comment doesn't make him a racist ffs!
