Hi.

Anyone know where i can find a downloadable / printable kara guide?

Thanks.

Looked at all of them and then and they are very helpfull.

But i've never been to kara and going for the 1st time 2morrow and want to check what to expect from the 1st second i go in there.

Rule #1 of Raiding. Don't Die.
Rule #2 If you're not the Tank don't pull aggro
Rule #3 If you're the Tank Pull Aggro

If you can do those 3 you're sorted for Kara :P

Ah, the thrills of first time raiding :D
Just read up on the encounters, to get a general feel of what it is all about. The group you are going with most likely have already sorted out strategies that fits them best, so ask them if your unsure about anything. They will mostlikely tell you what to do and what they expect from you :D

If they are up to Aran already I sugest you read up on that one in depth :D that should be the only fight where a new guy can wipe the entire raid...

ahh to raid again... only been into kara 3 times. Got up to and finished the chess event before my guild collapsed :(. Still don't have any kara gear.

Rule #3 If you're the Tank Pull Aggro

If the tank can't keep aggro, get a new tank :P

Hate it when I get aggro with my mage because the tank is a retard or badly specced or geared (if you're going to Kara this shouldn't be the case anyway)

i've been to bot many times and never died, the other night I go through my usual shot rotation with one eye on the threat meter, i've always been 3rd on threat list, maybe 2nd, but my pet is mostly 2nd and tank 1st. But i've never pulled aggro.

At the 1st boss, the tank looses aggro and goes after me, watch your aggro, so i said sorry, maybe i lost focus, next boss, that annoying dude that goes into tree form, he looses aggro again, but this time the mage takes aggro, so we whipe, and he goes off, what a bunch of n00bs that cant handle their aggro, blah blah blah, so i said wtf dude you have loads of skills for keeping aggro, wham, he dumps us.

We get a new tank, and we finish it withou even getting close to dying.

Nothing kills a run like a bad tank.
I did an incredibly painful SH run the other night where I eventually abandoned using Mindblast an just dotted and Mindflayed because the tank's aggro generation was so crappy.
FYI this was a Feral Tank not even a warrior Tank.

Probably a 12 year old...hate it when someone quits the instance because he is an idiot.

no I love it, one less idiot :D

The worst is when someone quits because he didn't get the loot he wanted (especially if it's from the first boss)

or even worse - if the get what they wanted at the 1st boss - needs without asking and then goes

Yep, that happened once while I was instancing. Was on the second last boss, so we had to get an extra player to help with last boss. He was the tank :p

Thats probably half the reason i dont pug instances anymore

1. if the tank sucks, ie, i still draw aggro after waiting 10sec,after 3 sunders, and after poping invis/IB

2. if the healers refuse to grp heal/dont pay attention when u scream "wtf why cant u heal more than 1 person?"

if 3 cases i went heroic SV, 2/3 times we had a lock, and couldnt get the first elemental down, i had spent 67gp on repairs due to retard tanks >.>

if the dps sucks its fine, cos the healer can keep the tank up while the dps slacks

Have fun in kara tho :) It gets rly exciting, our RL started crying when we got aran 2 6% the first time :p "omg c'mon just ****** kill him ***************"

Did Shadow Labs last night - had this pally tank - this dude is a legend.

I am a hunter and if we have a bad tank i just spam steady and auto shot the whole time.

At one point i actually tried get get aggro away from this guy for a trap and could not - so at the second boss i started throwing everything at the mobs and i did not take one hit during the whole instance, this guy tank 2 or even 3 at a time, not breaking aggro once.

we've got 1-2 feral druids like that in our guild, sadly my full dps burn aggros over them in 5mans :(

here comes the n00b question.

Does threat gain = damage done, by that i mean, if you start doing more damage than the tank will you eventually gain aggro, or does the skills he uses to control aggro have nothing to do with damage done?

Tanks have skills to increase their aggro per damage done.
Defensive stance for instance gives the tank 10% more aggro (thus damage x 110%)
Tanks further have skills that improve aggro without it actualy dealing any damage, A sunder from a warrior for instance would give the warrior 300 aggro equivalent of damage.
By taunting the warrior instantly moves to the top position of the aggro list regardless of his damage done...
Most agro abilites can be worked out as dmg vs dmg to make it easy to follow on threat meters.

You also have to out aggro the tank by atleast 10% to pull aggro of him.

You furhter also have to concider that most dps classes have threat reducing tallents so that their dps don't relate directly to the ammount of aggro gained. i.e. blessing of salvation from a paladin would reduce your threat/aggro by 30% so you can do a lot more dmg.
