Hey Guys, I went to this Chinese GP the other day and he uses this machine called KARNAK SENSOR to do some diagnosis. My question is are any of you guys had any experience with such machines?

The diagnosis seemed pretty accurate I must say, but I just wanted to get any views around this machine.

Thanks

Looks like another scam to me and a quick google finds no scientific testing of said device.

electromagnetic biofrequency language between the brain and the organs.

Complete horse-schit. Rather see an actual doctor before he does real damage to you...

Didn't Carte Blance investigate something like this a while back? They took amongst others a lady with cancer to someone operating a machine like this. She was given a clean bill of health by the operator!:wtf:

Biofrequency language? WTF does that even mean?

Where's our resident Deepak Chopra fan, tringaling, when you need him/her?

Just stick to the old standard, the dowsing rod.

Or just make stuff up without even using any equipment.

How would you know? Are you a doctor too?

Silly question due, silly question. Usually when pple ho to a GP they will be aware of symptoms/pains/ irritations etc. Moreover, pple may also be seeking a second opinion.

This is how I know that the diagnosis were pretty accurate. Something you don't need to be a doctor to figure out.

Thanks for all your feedback guys. The Doctor is an Acupuncturist who specialises in Herbal Chinese Medication. I checked with Discovery Health and the Doctor is on their Network.

I was rather fascinated by this machine he uses and wanted to check if some of you have had an experience/ share your views etc.

I will alert the SA Medical Association and see if they can look into this. I do have the GP's details, so it should be easy finding more info from SAMA.

Maybe first determine if this doctor is a proper registered medical doctor. If not I don't think there is anything you can do apart from trying to use the CPA to get your money back.

@Skimread - as per previous two replies, the GP is registered and Discovery Medical Aid has him on their Disvovery Network. And I am quite happy with the service he rendered. I was really just curious about his methods and all the flood of replies about a SCAM now makes me rather uneasy. Hence I thought I should check with SAMA.

An acupuncturist who specialises in Herbal Chinese Medication is not a GP.

From the sound of it I doubt he is allowed to practice medicine and is probably a complimentary/alternative medicine practitioner.

Interesting to know @Skimread. I thought all those doctors with an MBChB degrees can be classified as GPs (I tend to use the names GP and Doctor alternatively)? Anyway, I'm no expert in the subject matter. FYI, the guy does have an MBChB degree.

Anyway, even more reasons to check with SAMA.

Well, there goes my confidence in everything Discovery:(

I will also check with HPCSA to see if they do have him listed/ registered. Will report tomorrow.

Did he obtain the MBChB locally or overseas?
Does he have he have his own practice or work at someone else's practice?

AFAIK if he is an overseas graduate and wants to practice medicine he has to register with the HPCSA in the category public service to be recognized and if then he wants an independent practice he needs to write exams at a SA university to register for an independent practice in order to register at the HPCSA for it.
