I've compiled my Bucket List this weekend, and this is one of the items.
I figured that I'll start working through my bucket list while I'm still young (22).

Seeing as Plane Tickets are VERY expensive from SA I'm trying to take care of the items that's fairly close. We're not that far off the South Pole, and perhaps I can hit two birds with one stone and see The "Northern" Lights.

Does anyone have some details or comments on this? I'd like to start planning this asap. :)

You could always volunteer with the South African Antarctic expedition or whatever it's called for a summer position on the ice, or with the British Anctarctic Survey (they always look for people to fill various positions) or you can try the US National Science Foundation which runs the South Pole Base.

Hmmmm.... dunno if they'll have a use for a programmer :), but I bet that will probably be the best idea. It can't hurt to drop them an email and see what happens. :D

You don't have to go to the South Pole to see Orca - Plenty of them down Cape Agulhas.
Problem is the weather as you usually end up seeing God down that part of the world also.

Hmmmmmm.... if those are my choices. I pick the artic. :)
Nah, I still have plenty of time to plan the expedition... Should be fun.

I'd love to go to Friday Harbor (Washington) to kayak with the pods of Orcas.

If you go to Friday Harbor to see the Orcas you'd also be closer to seeing the Northern Lights...just a hop, skip and a jump away :)

At this point in time... I'm just looking for another income. Anyone need a C#/VB/ASP developer?
