Iburst in SUSE connection problem

Also i have a problem getting my iburst desktop modem to connect.
I create a DSL connection like i would in windows but i cant seem to start the connection.
Now my linux knowledge is limited so it might be something really simple so im hoping someone might be able to help me .
As far as I understand once you created the connection , it should show up when i click on the network icon in the system tray ?
I dont see it there though.
When i create for example a wired network connection , it will show but i never see the dsl connection there.
Advice?

For the plasma problem, have you tried to run that "platform" manager as administrator in Windows 7/Vista?
Usually right lick run as admin works for simple problems like that.

As for the dsl problem, that probably won't work as network manager usually runs pppoe over eth0, and I am sure your ibust modem is not eth0. In which case you need another way to establish that. I for example wanted to use it over wlan0, and the only way I could do that was from the command line use pppoe-connect and manually setting my device for that to wlan0. Thus I would suggest finding what ethernet device that modem pop up as and work from there. I am not sure if the NetworkManager in linux can be set to use another device instead of eth0 for pppoe.

The only thing you find in Iburst section is complaints , sad but true.

did you click on the link above? that's just searching for linux in that sub-forum. i'd be very surprised if all those threads were complaints and not one of them offered you a starting point.
