I started growing some stuff indoors but I would like to move them outside, they are all in pots and most are herbs. I do want to start trying to grow some fruits /veg soon.

I have a table which I would place my pots on but I'm concerned about the monkeys in the area. I'm thinking of maybe a wire fence or some sort of cage to put over them but not sure.

Any ideas?

Those rubber snakes work. Works at my place. Just move them from time to time.

wonder about cats, as cats are territorial, and will hiss and attack monkeys that come near them.

also cats take care of themselves, dont need humans to feed them, they are perfectly capable of taking care of themselves.

In the beginning the dogs wanted to rip the monkeys apart. They sit on the grass in the yard now, even eat dog pellets from their bowls. Dogs just watch them. So animals get accustomed to them and grow tired of chasing them.

A Fish Hoek man, accused of shooting a baboon, appeared in the Simon’s Town Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday to face animal cruelty charges in violation of the Animal Protection Act.


Louis Goosen was originally scheduled to enter a plea on Tuesday, but told the magistrate that he thought he should take legal aid, which delayed his trial.




Goosen is also charged with hunting without a licence in terms of the Nature Conservancy ordinances, and illegally discharging a firearm in a built-up area.

Where I grew up in Limpopo at a dam adjacent to a mountain they would come steel food and things from the fishermen, because of the reputation these baboons have for attacking and ripping you apart, fishermen and the owner at the dam just shot them if they got close, finish and klaar.

Pitbulls have lost complete interest. If we're in the yard they go bezerk at the monkeys, but if we're in the house they just can't be bothered
