Keeping out forum threads

was just wondering if any of You guys knew of an easy and effective way or any way really, off preventing people from creating porn threads on a forum

capcha and email confirmation for registration, then a post in a "introduce yourself" subsection before being allowed to post in the main forum tends to filter most of these guys away..too much hassle for them (and, unfortunately, for some legitimate users too)

Just out of curiosity, how often do porn threads pop up here

I have visited many forums and can't recall just now a porn thread ever popping up (flame wars, fanboyism and racial/cultural issues and such are quite often encountered tho...).

Perhaps if many of those threads pop up you have to ask yourself what you're doing that provokes them in the first place?

Anyway there's always a way around automated systems no way around moderation me thinks

I see them from time to time. Reporting to a mod normally makes the disapear in a couple on minutes.

Depends on the forum s/w, there is an automated system in place here [will not say what it is], but automated systems do not replace moderators.
