Kenya Airways

I flew Kenya air just before lockdown.
Good experience.
Will happily fly with them again.
On time on all flights.

I booked with them, only to turn up at the airport with baggage and everything and flight was cancelled. Struggled to get refund.

I would not fly with them ever again.
Pay the extra for peace of mind.

Work colleague flew to Nairobi from Cape Town a few weeks ago.

A 45 min layover in Livingstone turned into 5 hours as there was a mechanical fault with the plane. Upon landing in Nairobi, the mechanical fault reoccurred and they sat on the side of the runway for over an hour. Eventually they had to get towed to the terminal.

So what should have been a 6 hour flight turned into 13 hours just to get to JKIA.

A friend (not with Discovery so not entitled to a Vitality discount) wants to fly to London in December. Cheapest airlines? Yes, I know, I also don't understand why she would wait until now to book ... madness

Kenya Airways any good? Or just settle on Emirates?
if you are after cheap = air Egypt

Flew it 3 weeks ago, have flown with them many times
Business class is same price as economy premium anywhere else.

The first leg of the flight isnt really business, its bigger seats and nice, but not business.
There is a stop over in nairobi, which is short, and then the long haul use really nice seats. There is no partition full and 2 seats per section, so some people might find this sub par if you are travelling alone.
I had no issues

Good flight, average meals (better than economy)

KQ works fine, they're a good airline. Nairobi not the best airport you're going to have a stopover in, but certainly not the worst either...

My brother and sister in law had flights booked to Bangkok with them. They cancelled their flights yesterday but immediately rebooked them via Emirates.

"More than two dozen flights were cancelled and thousands of passengers stranded as pilots at Kenya Airways PLC (KQNA.NR), one of Africa's biggest carriers, began a strike on Saturday, despite the government urging them to call it off.

The strike that started at 6 a.m. (0300 GMT) will affect business and leisure travellers at one of Africa's most important aviation hubs. ...

"It is about 10,000 passengers affected so far and if the situation continues like this, the impact on the other sectors of the economy, tourism, will be severe," the minister said, adding more than two dozen flights had been cancelled so far. ..."
