Hi, currently having a problem with my Microsoft Wireless Desktop 3000 keyboard. Whenever I press the number 8 it follows with the letter p, the same with 9 and [, as well as 0 and ]. The numpad also gives the same problem.( 4-7, 5-8, 6-9) As you can see there is a pattern with the numpad and the keys 8,9,0.
Also nothing was spilled on the keyboard.I am typing this with another keyboard which is working fine. We have also tried re-installing the drivers for the keyboard but no luck. A system restore was also done. The keyboard was working fine a few days ago.
Any help or advice will be appreciated.

Hi

Can you confirm your os?

Does your keyboard work in a pure dos environment?

I just tested it in pure dos and still gives the same problem.
my os is windows 8

haha ok but its been working for months and now suddenly it just stops working and has these problems.

Could it have got wet? Maybe coffee spill or similar?
This would cause the the keypresses to get mixed up.

Short on key matrix (between two column or row wires), or a stuck key generating ghost. Easily to find out if knowing matrix layout. Or run diagnostic program which display keyboard scan codes and key layout. Key layout can be wrong, but it will give an idea what happened.
