Hey MyBB!

Well just need advice on a new keyboard please, iv currently got a "Logitech G15" which is getting old now, so im looking at replacing the keyboard, here are a couple pointers im looking for:

* Best value for money (Preferably not a high price)
* Needs Media Keys
* Needs Backlit Keys
* Doesnt Need Shortcut Keys
* If Possible USB Points, Not necessary but rather a "nice" feature

So far iv had my eye on the Microsoft sidewinder series of keyboards which covers some pointers iv mentioned but would rather see what others have to recommended.

Thanks In Advance
Justin

Logitech Illuminated. Best keyboard I've ever owned and I've compared it to many (Razer's Lycosa is similar but the Illuminated is much better). Not a gaming keyboard per se but works fine as one (I play SC2 and BLOPS). I recommend going to Incredible to check if they have one on display.

Thanks PostmanPot will have a look, yeah gaming isnt a problem more of a console gamer anyway, thanks for the heads up on that one

I use the Logitech MK705 wireless combo. Excellent product, hasn't given so much as a minutes hassles, ultra responsive and accurate. Only complaint is the KB is not back lit...

Well that doesn't help much now does it? :p

Great kb/mouse combo though.

I have the Sidewinder X6 and it is great.

Is your G15 broken? If not why would you want to replace it with a cheaper KB? :confused:

Had my G15 for almost 3 years and it still going strong. I don't foresee myself needing to change it in the next 3 - 5 years.

yeah it is hey unfortunatly, the LCD connection broke off, and the back light has fallen off, im liking the sidewinder X6 nice price and affordable for what you get thanks for the heads up

Working and ultimate comfort = Logitech Illuminated

Gaming = Microsoft Sidewinder/Razer Lycosa

Here's some:

Razer Lycosa = R585
Razer Lycosa Mirror Finish = R570 --> Both of these have what you want, but the media keys are touch and I've found them quite difficult sometimes (Especially finding the backlight key when it's quite dark)
Microsoft Sidewinder X6 = R545 - I'd recommend this
Microsoft Sidewinder X4 = R420 - Cheaper option

There is more available, but for what you stated I'd say that's about what you are looking for?

Im also looking into a new Keyboard :)

they Microsoft (bleh :P) keyboards seem like the better options though

I've had a MS keyboard for years - they last forever. From looking at the Kb's above I think its time to buy myself a present. The X6 looks mighty fine! :)

The X6 looks good except for those HIDEOUS dials on the top right.

I've got a Microsoft Sidewinder X4 and the X3 mouse. The mouse is insanely awesome for the price you pay for them these days, very comfortable too and extremely responsive. THe keyboard is nice, but the media keys suck a little as there's no pause button (or is it stop?) but it does feature anti-ghosting which makes it a super fast keyboard. Comfortable for typing, if a little bit on the big and heavy side. The extended palm rest on it is a permanent attachment though.

Razer's Lycosa : keys are a bit stiff but you will get use to it. 8/10.

Agreed. Logitech Illuminated definitely has the best keys. But what you don't know won't hurt you. :p And the Lycosa's keys are a huge upgrade from the old block keys as on the G15 (IMO).

I have the razer lycosa mirror edition and love it. The keys are definitely much better to type on than my old G15.

I too have the Razer Lycosa.

As previously mentioned, some of the touch sensitive buttons (i.e. to change the illumination) are sometimes difficult to find in the dark.
Additionally, when the keys are not illuminated, you can not see the label on each key.

The quality, response time, feel and layout of the keyboard are excellent.

7/10
