Nice Article.... but PVR's are about 10years old in the international market.... the thing driving europe now is HDTV.... and thats whats selling right now. DVB-H is a huge sucess in countries that have good public infrastructure as the commuters want to be entertained while on the bus/train etc.
Another facility that is already in use in Germany is Video-On-Demand... you place and order for a movie on the Internet, and then it gets streamed to your decoders hard drive..... 10 minutes later you can watch your movie... as many times as you want.
DVB-T is not new anymore and if ICASA hadnt dragged it heels, we would already be using Digital-TV decoders on SABC1/2/3.
TV in South Africa has got alot of potential - I can only see good coming from it.
