I live in a small complex which is fully enclosed with the back wall being electrified and a spiky fence at the front. We have a pedestrian gate and an automated gate for vehicle access. A number of the residents are with ADT and whenever an alarm goes off all they can do is walk around the perimeter of the complex and call back to say it looks okay.

They have given me the option of installing a keysafe into which I want to place a remote for the gate. The gate receiver has the ability to delete individual remotes. So I don't have a problem with the remote getting lost.

ADT say it will be mounted to the wall using rawl bolts. They say criminals have a better chance of forcing open the pedestrian gate than compromising the keysafe.

The other option we did discard was an additional receiver in the gate for the armed response. The problem with multiple receivers besides control over remotes is accountability for the gate when it breaks.

The problem now is to convince the other residents of the above facts. They believe the keysafe will compromise the security of the complex.

Does anyone have any experiences (good or bad) with a keysafe or any other suggestions?

Why don't you get an intercom, when they get at the gate they can call the tenant from the intercom to open the gate or pedestrian gate for them remotely ?

And if the tenant doesn't answer his phone ?

We have a smartguard keypad linked to the gate. Have a seperate access code given to armed response and kept control room.

They give guard the code when alarm goes off. The code is only valid for 1 use then we put a new code.

I would say this is the best option, my brothers house is setup the same way!
