I love going to a Steers or KFC and getting soft serves in the afternoons.
Whenever I go there is a very good chance that I will be told that the ice cream machines are not working.

Is this a KZN thing? I wonder if they have even paid off their ice cream machines based on how many times I've gone in and they couldn't use them.

It's a nationwide thing unfortunately....

Have had it in cpt, jhb, bloem and nelspruit

A very common occurrence. I think there is a gap in the market here, start selling ice cream machines that don't break down every day.

They break down all the time. The machines also very rarely get cleaned, and are full of mould inside. Doesn't stop me, but every now and then those ice creams pass through me in under an hour.

i'm unable go past a steers without going in for ice cream

I think my kids have a problem. They don't recognise Mcd, Steers or KFC, to them driving past it's just : " Icecream, Icecream!".

*side note* no my kids do NOT eat fast food.

But that caramel sauce of theirs though....

Haven't had in a while but if you ever want to blow a calorie budge, wifes homemade rocky road would do the trick.

2l tub of vanilla icecream
1 x can of caramel treat
Romany creams, small marshmallows, glazed cherries and pecan nuts to taste.

Melt icecream and mix all together. Re-freeze.

Serve with one helping of insulin.

Well, many many moons ago I worked at McDonalds and the only times the ice cream machine was "out of order" was not due to it being broken, but rather due to there being no "soft serve mix" available.

How often would these machines get cleaned out?

Also, seems like these small restaurants have a bit an issue with forecasting and stock levels.
