"He acknowledged us as the first indigenous nation of South Africa and that we will be granted recognition enabling us to have access to our dispossessed land," Katz said.

Civic organisation AfriForum Youth has issued a statement in support of the Khoisan "against the distortion and denial of the history of minorities".

The Khoisan were wiped out over 200 years ago. Who exactly are these people claiming to be Khoisan?
 
It seems every coloured person in the Western Cape with a chip on their shoulder and an axe to grind is now claiming their Khoisan heritage. Up until recently these people didn't even know who their ancestors were, or had even heard of the Khoisan, now they want their land back.

If you want to be Khoisan, then you'd better know how to speak a Khoisan language fluently, know all about Khoisan culture and explain exactly how you are Khoisan. I bet these people can't do any of these things.
 
They do exist, but in small numbers in the Northern Cape, Namibia, and Botswana.

You go to court - you have to put your hand on the bible and so i will go in accordance with the "LAW"

Africa was firstly occupied by the Egyptians and they were "white" (or ape like) and thus if going by their rules then our piece of land (continent) belongs to the people BC and they are the ones these Khoisan's should approach!!!

Or something like that.

Anyhow at least this country has been turned into something productive and not like almost all the "black" countries in Africa whom are starving, at war or just a dump - typical you got something good they want it.

Sorry but someone had to say it.

That is correct.

The single biggest reason the Khoi and the San, two different tribes, were virtually wiped out was because of smallpox as they had no natural immunity to it. Two or more outbreaks of smallpox, starting in 1734 through to 1755 or thereabouts, by all accounts reduced the population to 10% or less of its original number according to one historic record.
With reduced numbers the remaining Khoi and San fled the Cape northwards to get away from the disease, others may have mingled into what is known as our coloured population today, the rest were probably shot by the white settlers as they became marginalised and stole to survive.

Basically in less than a hundred years of the settlers arriving in the Cape, the Khoi and the San who had been living in the area for thousands if not millions of years were reduced to a small band of people in the Northern Cape, Namibia (Nama) and Botswana. The Germans further reduced the Nama by half during the period 1904 and 1907.

I feel really sorry for these Khoi or San people, they have the historic claim to most of South Africa as we know it today, but are few and humble. Let's see what the Government does for them and how important minority groups are to them.

What I am saying is that Who were the very first inhabitants of the Continent?? Not Sotho, Xhosa etc etc
 
The issue is rather, how far back do you want to go for land claims, before it becomes completely ridiculous? If you go back far enough, we are all settlers ...

Or just got for a DNA test and him with the highest % of khoisan... wins.
