Kia Lightbulb problems

Aaah that is a different story, but like Vegeta mentions have you been touching the glass with a naked hand/fingers?

I try not too.. my thing is both main beams and a brake light blew at the exact same time..

I have a 2010 Cerato (same model) and havent had any issues. Still using the factory bulbs so dont think its a recall kind of thing.

A work colleague of mine also has the 2010 sedan and he is also struggling with blown bulbs which made me wonder..

I have a 2010 Cerato.
Both main beam bulbs popped within about six months of each other after about 3 years of use.
I replaced them with Phillips from Midas about two years ago and so far those are the only two lights that have blown and I've had no more issues since then.
The back lights, fog lights, etc. all work after five years so it only seems to be the main beams which are a problem.
Maybe a bad batch of Osram's?

The last couple of months the headlights on my Micra also went. I replaced it with Midas cheap headlights. It never lasted long. I probably went through 4-5 sets in the span of 6 months. Then I decided to fit proper Bosch lights. They cost 10x what the cheapies cost, but they have lasted for 3 months now (touch wood).

Buy quality lights and see if that works.

I drive a Kia Cerato 2.0 hatch auto, 2011 model. The car has blown multiple head / braking lights during its lifespan.

Initially it didn't bother me but now in 1 week it will blown both headlights and a brake light in one go, at random.

When driving and looking at other Cerato's (even Koup derivatives) on the road I notice more and more vehicles with blown lights.

I once spoke to a Kia mechanic and he was of the opinion its a well know issue with the vehicles, if so why has there not been a recall of the vehicles?

Have you been affected or know about some with the same issue maybe?

Hey bud,

I have the Kia Koup 2012 auto and have the exact same issue. Service manager at Kia Centurion told me it is a common known problem. When I queried as to why there hasn't been a fix issued, got some rubbish response.

Its a real frustration as I simply don't have the time to go every month to have Kia replace them.

Replace them yourself.

I replaced the front headlights with proper Philips globes bought at Midas and have not had any issues since then. I am struggling to find similar Philips brake lights at present.. seams my local Midas doesn't always carry stock of them so I am replacing brake lights on a monthly basis at present..

Hi peeps. Sorry I know this thread is many moons old, but I am looking for some tips. I have a 2012 Cerato 2.0 and it is blowing bulbs often. Philips X-treme Vision set lasted 8 months. Osram night breakers lasted 12 months, but that includes lockdown with minimal usage.

After all these years, any tips about which brands last longer for Kia?
