kia picanto 1.1 (auto) gearbox problem

Hey guys

Pls help. My niece bought a kia picanto 1.1 auto (2006) - (43 000km on clock) last week in durbs, drove it to jhb and the gear box got fudged up. It starts up fine but when you select a gear, its stays in neutral. The reverse when selected works but only just a little so it moves a tad but when you try to give gas it stays neutral.

Anyone had similar problems? Anyone know what it could be?
Anyone know of a good mech to check it out and help?
should we get a second hand box?

If she got as far as joburg, gearbox mechanics sound fine..maybe a gear selector switch failure..sounds more like an electronics issue. try kia themselves for help (speak to service foreman) before you go buying another box.
