KIA rio hatch back

Yea but dude we were comparing 1.4 not the 1.6. The titanium is much better than that watered down 1.4 for 170k.

Titanium is features packed and looks a beauty but for 170k you can find better than a 1.4 fiesta.

Why would insurance be more for a 2.0 over a 1.6 if the price is the same? What insurance company you with? Outsurance?

Spot the troll.. might I remind him all three of us in this thread had Fords previously and they all seemed to give trouble..

The Titanium Fiesta is a nice vehicle but is pretty much a pimped version of a small entry level Fiesta.. Its the same bare bones underneath.

Prices copied off the manuf website:
FORD FIESTA 2012 1.6 TITANIUM 5-DOOR R226610
KIA RIO 1.4 TEC 5-DOOR R171995

That is close to R55 000 difference! that is a huge difference for tiny cars like these in this segment. What exactly are you paying extra for? the only difference I can see is a weak 1.6l engine and for that price you can get a 2.0l.

@ R226k it puts you in a Cerato, i30, Astra, Focus, Golf, Civic league, all in a segment above with more space, safety, power, everything...

@ Killa 2.0 will be considered a "sports car" by some insurance companies, especially if driver is less than 25 years old.

I'm really enjoying the Kia's...the Huyndai's are on par as well.

I've driven the Cerato sedan and for R200k it's a LOT of car compared to the alternatives.

If I had to go for a hatch now it would be the Rio...but I've got my eye on the new Sportage. For R275k it's very very sexy. If Kia can sort out their long lead times on spare parts for servicing then they'll be taking the market by storm.

But yeah, people want polo's because everyone else has polo's. It reminds me a bit of people with blackberries. :p

I don't get the polo craze. Geezuz i drive plenty and i honestly can say it's the dominant car on the market.

While the guy may like his ford for that kinda money there are far better cars. I would take a 2.0 kia over 1.6L

The most awesome thing about my car and i know it's a bit stupid but the rearview mirrors has this on and off switch and at first i was like WTF is it until i drove it at night, it darkened the back windows or some shyte so no more people blinding me from behind!!!!!

Ford is no doubt a good car but they skimp on many things and give you the least they can for the most amount of cash. Plus it's still only a 60k plan they give and you have to deal with those scam artists.
If kia could get stocks as mentioned sorted along with hyundai they could become the biggest selling cars in the world. Kia has some amazing cars coming out soon as well.

Troll? Seriously? I said that I paid 200k, not that this was the listed price.

With any other brand you can ask for a discount...and yes I got a 30K discount!
With Kia and Hyundai you cant get discount because they never have stock of what they sell.

The Fiesta is the best selling car of 2011 in the UK... It's been on the market for a few years now...so if it really was as bad as you claim then I guess everyone is just wrong.

If anyone claims it's overpriced... Its not, if you compare this with a 1.6 polo, the polo will be 200k without a service plan, leather seats, park distance control, cruise control and o yeah the polo doesn't have USB or bluetooth.

I am under 25 yes and insurance would be mad on a 2.0 and also the 2.0 cerato/koup is not fast for a 2.0 by any stretch of the imagination... But it has the same feul efficiency as a GTI.

I get that these cars are of great value and I myself would buy one, but they need to bring in the international engines, like the 1.6GDi that the Rio has in the US.

Sorry for my ranting lol... Just needed to get that off my chest. In the R150K bracket I would also go with the rio, but just go drive everything you can before you decide.

Sorry I'm on my phone, troll comment was directed at coole, should have quoted.

No one is denying fiesta is a good car, its the price in SA that is the problem. It's the same as bigger cars, forget the kia you can get a new civic or golf 6 for 230k which are much better buys.

We need to look at list prices not special discounts for special favours.. needs to be in b&w. Btw I'm sure kills got a 15k discount on his cerato... Also don't you have the cheaper 3 door?

My 1.4 Fezz cost me R105 brand new.

And the performance of my fezz is by far as compared to the 1.4 bling bling

IMHO there is no decent car in that price range of 100K range unless you settle for a picanto or getz. you will have to folk out at least 130K to 150K for a decent luxury car.

Well of course you will, having said that a picanto or getz is luxury to some people though, it just depends on your bracket.

That picanto looks a sweet ride though i sat in it when i was sorting my car out and it seemed awesome for the price.

its a nice car for the ladies, but for us okes it looks very feminine. The facelift looks kark too, very strange and alienish. i will never spend a 100K for cars like that. i would rather by a 2nd hand car with decent mileage.

Here we go again...

Kias are not the crap they used to be, IMO they are as good or better than the Fords and Toyotas in the world when it comes to things like value, build quality, aesthetics, safety etc. I have nothing against Ford, my previous car was also a Ford.

My Cerato is 2 years old next week and it still looks as good as it did when it came out of the showroom.

+1 the korean manufacturers are bumping up their quality, japan no longer has monopoly of cars in the east anymore

Is this still the Rio Hatchback threat? So who purchased it and how's it feel?

Well it was hahah. A supplier of mine bought the tec and he says it's an amazing car. Not the most powerful but packed full of features and well made.

I bought the Rio Sedan 1.4Tec about 2 months ago. I must agree that sometimes the 1.4 feels a bit sluggish on hills, but otherwise it is an awesome car and I do not in any way regret the purchase

Troll showing us selective reading. Also, show us a quicker 1.4?

Please don't give us a turbo or supercharged 1.4..
