KIA:

I went to look at the Sportage last week.

The young dealer said that they don't allow test drives & don't really order new cars because the waiting list is too long. I should pick one of the 2 on the floor.

He then also referred to their accounts lady "quite a bitch" when discussing how they fight for the best bank offer.

Yeah, no thanks.
Wow that is swak. I like kia but not that much. I saw a yellow sportage in EL today, must have taken it because they dont order new ones.

I have a Kia, good car, but will think twice when buying a new car because they are the 2nd most expensive car for spare parts.

Were did you come across that info?
I find it hard to believe that Kia's spares cost nearly as much as those from Ferrari or even Mercedes for that matter.
From what I've read Kia's spares are in the middle compared to other manufacturer's vehicles in similar classes.

With regards to poor after market service, I think it's very dependent on which dealership you use.
I've had good service from Kia Fourways and Kia Centurion.

Talking about parts... My Cerato went in for its 45k service last week and they wanted to change the wiper blades for R995... I told them no thanks as it seemed excessive but really I have no idea. I seem to remember changing the blades myself on my girlfriends tazz a few years ago for like R100.

Yes, your memory didn't fail you...

The problem with most new cars these days is that they dont use generic wiper blades anymore. They have their own designed blades that should work marginally better. but they cost MUCH more.

My wiper blade set for my polo will set me back about R650.. On my old Citi it would have cost about R95 for both front blades.

The blades on my polo also cost around R400, was shocked cause on my old opel it was like R100

Yeah thought as much, now where to source new ones? No rush though as the current ones still seem absolutely fine to me.
