A bit concerned with the smaller providers. Seems like the complex has an exclusive deal with Kiklo, and the options require a 3 or 12 month contract -- see image below. Looking at either 10 or 25mbs. (PS there is no adsl in the complex)

Does anyone have any experience to share with Kiklo

no experience but they were canvasing the RA to get fibre in our area, they were unsuccessful but nonetheless they were helping out and we had complaints about Metro fibre messing up peoples yards the helped sort it out. So at least in that way the AOK. will see who signs up with them when fibre goes live.
the lady we dealt with was telling us basically the company started cause her boss waited fibre in his neighborhood but couldn't get it so started his own company to get it himself.

I don't get how this works, how do they decide what Metrofibre does and one of their resellers like kiklo or greeencom, those prices are madness.

the exclusivity is normally for a limited time to reward the ISP for marketing fibre etc.

We had Kiklo apply to install fibre in our estate - also as sole provider.

Remember that this isn't a decision the BC or HOA can make without agreement by the owners, so not sure how that happened in your estate.

Kiklo are expensive in comparison to say Openserve (who laid fibre in our estate). A benefit is that Kiklo do sometimes offer "extras" - in our instance they offered free fibre setup for CCTV around the estate. There have also been many complaints in Kyalami/Glenferness areas regarding the length of time to repair faults.

I'm aware. Hence I used my estimated usage. Uncapped doesn't matter if I'm only able to use 100gb with my usage profile.

Yes but still not a fair comparison if you go over 100 gb on say lTE you either have to buy it go into oob which will push your per gb out the window.

Any way why would you think you would only use 100Gb? Lol once you start using you will really go though that especially if streaming.

If 100Gb just ask them kiklo what would they charge you for 100Gb.

Also, LTE is dependent on signal and tower congestion. Fibre doesn't have these drawbacks. Then there is also the point about the huge ping differences.

I have been with Kiklo for a couple of months and running away as fast as I can. Kiklo and Greencom are a necessary evil to get fibre in the first place. What they don't tell you is that after 3 months you can move to any other provider that does MetroFibre. That is what I am doing now.

Kiklo prices are high, you get a crap router (its an ONT and router in one btw), little weekend/after hour support, and not to mention that their finance department treats people like crap. Very unprofessional. Greencom is even worse.

Thanks for this. Would like to hear your experience switching.

I've had similar experience with greencom, albeit limited, because they got the axe from the complex before any install. Vumatel was then put in.

AFAIK Kiklo came into being first in Glenferness, which is where the company offices are, & where the company owner lives.

He started the company because he was sick & tired of telkom cables being stolen, bad 3G/LTE reception & decided he wanted fibre at home. Bingo, Kiklo was created.

The owner is a good guy, very community oriented, but it remains a small reseller of Metrofibre, so you are always reliant on Metrofibre to resolve issues.

crap provider wouldnt touch them anyday. Plus any other ISP that actually has their own capacity etc on the MFN network is alot cheaper than them and actually know how to route traffic etc.

Dont waste your time on them you will thank me later. Glad i have moved around 15 clients away from them

Think Pippen here just had a bad experience. I am with Kiklo and have had nothing but the most awesome experience with them. They managed our installation on a plot in the middle of nowhere (where other ISP's declined to invest) and kept us informed every step of the way. We stuffed up a bit with payments and the accounts department was nothing but understanding and helpful. As for the speed and actual fibre service, it's fabulous!

I initially did a lot of research on the different fibre companies in the area when we moved in. The majority of the feedback was for Kiklo. They are community driven, do honest business, and can offer all kinds of additional IT services. I clearly remember a woman tell me about how she had an installation done and the company left her with a box and instructions on how to install her gigapoint. She can't even connect her phone to wifi (BC generation haha)! Kiklo did all of this for me and installed a pretty decent router. Even offered a comp session with a tech to help connect our cameras on the plot. They are a little bit pricey, but I figure I am supporting the little guy and am receiving awesome service, exactly what I pay for up and down speeds. They also don't tie you into any longterm contracts (we're on month-to-month) which helps as we are still renting.

Service was a bit wonky a while back - all I had to do was send one email. The support team kept me up to date and sorted it all in a couple of days. The plots have overland fibre so it is a bit more exposed to elements but all in all we are really happy. Compared to the crap I had before through Telkom and MTN this is heaven.

I'd recommend them based on my experience.

A friend of mine was using Kiklo. Was the most depressed I've ever seen him until he switched to a new provider.
