Hi guys:D

Just got my kindle fire, put it to charge and now waiting for it to update.

I'm gonna use it stock for a few days before I root it:D

So point of this thread is, if you got any questions about the device ask away

Enjoy the day

Q1: Total price paid
Q2: Time it took to arrive

1) How much access do you have to Amazon services in SA?
2) How is the screen reading like in direct sunlight?
3) What is your general impression of the UI?

Is it available for purchase here in SA or do you have to order it from overseas?

Amazon services are severely restricted, only books are accessible. Apps and streaming are not allowed
Right now its overcast but the glare makes it unreadible, it can't come close to the kindle 3G in terms of readibilty.
UI is limited; the Amazon Android skin is perfect for being consuming media through Amazons services but in SA, its not possible since they blocked content through an IP address level, using my fake US account doesn't work.

Overall, i thought id keep it stock for a while but gonna root it as soon as the battery is 100%

On the hardware side, its freaking amazing, naturally not as smooth as an iPad but im loving the size, screen and the snappy lil processor

I got it from NGR computers, they have it for 2500, it took jus about 8 working days to arrive and you have to get it from resellers.

My advice to any1 getting here, you have to root it to enjoy the device

you can buy the fire local for R2370 - let me bump the other thread, had tons of info on it.

YOu right. You gotta root it to enjoy. But once you got the market you can unroot again. Havent tried the CM7 on it yet. But good reviews so far. Got mine from NGR Computers on Friday. Looking to sell it though. Got too many gadgets now. Need to get rid of some.

I managed to get access to the Amazon App store after hours of playing around.
I set up a fake US account with fake credit card details and then managed to get it to work.
But only off the device I cant get apps off their webpage.

Also can only get free apps because of fake credit card details.

I have not rooted yet because im currently using it at work for testing.
