Kindle for pc software

I use the Kindle for pc on my old computer, now it is only available in the US. Do anyone know how to "get" it.

Why on earth would they want to geo-block an app like that? Sounds like a very counter-intuitive/American thing to do.

It's just irritating that all the lemmings publish to Amazon solely leaving a lot of books walled off.
