Do you need the new xbox slim to use the Kinect or will it work with the elite console?

I have the elite and it works, the kinect will work with any Xbox 360.

yes the lates updates is needed for it to work, you can just sighn up with a free live SA id, and download the latest update

The Kinect comes bundled with Kinect Adventures, a game with the update preloaded, so update using the disk.

Yes, any kinect game will have the required updates.

For what it's worth, any recent games that come out usually have any required updates on the disk, and will update your console when you play them.
